Do you know if this is being live streamed? They streamed it last year. There are several swimmers I know in 4A in this meet!

Maddie Locus (Georgia commit) wins 50 free in 22.85 and beats Dana Vollmer's state record.

Umbach was trashed in the 200 IM by Jonathan Edwards.

Maddie Locus' new record: that's tall cotton! Saw it online. Doesn't she swim for First Colony club team?

Edwards 1:46.9 in 200 IM! That would've finaled at SEC's. Wow!

Rumor is that Riley from Katy Taylor (3rd in 50 free, 20.79) Still hasn't picked a school. Wonder if he's on the Ags' radar.

The announcers are comically bad.

The video keeps going away for me. Live Results is worthless.

Natalie Hinds, very fast 100 fly winner from Midland, says her top 4 schools are UT, Auburn, Arizona, and Georgia.

Why isn't A&M on her list????
AGBlastoff
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, she'd fill a huge need on our team.

Southlake Carroll is going to sweep the titles. Wow, where did they come from??

I think a lot of SLC swimmers swim for North Texas Natadores (NTN) in Club swimming. NTN is a good club team.

If someone figures out exactly how the mind of 16/17 yr old works please post. Or write a book and retire.

Did Kingwood jump the woodlands for second on the girls side? Live results cut out.

Edwards anchored the Cy-Creek free relay to a win in 43.82. And what's scarier is that Stanford has about 4 recruits ranked ahead of him in their class...MAN are they going to be good the next few years!

Slc dq'd on the 4free. Kingwood gets the girls title.

second year in a row that carroll girls lose the meet because of a DQ on the last relay, all they had to do was finish the race.

How do you DQ on the final relay to blow the meet...two years in a row? Wow, did you not learn?

Last year, SLC's girls got screwed by the relay takeoff system malfunctioning. It was prelims. The girl was clearly still on the blocks when the girl in front of her touched. Neither of the human takeoff judges called a false start. The computer said something absurd like -0.80. The meet referee routinely has his head so far up his arse that it's not a surprise something liek this could happen.

This year, they just blew it.

I didn't think they even went to the electronic system unless one or both of the takeoff judges ruled false start.

If it happens once, "it happens". When it happens the second year, that's all on the coach. He must've been either talking about it too much or not enough.

The worst part is that it let Kingwood win. Oh brother. Had the Woodlands not DQ'ed the same relay in prelims, Kingwood would've been third.

in the SEC meet this weekend if you look at the auburn men's relay exchanges they are all between .3 and .6 because if they had DQed they would have lost the meet. i feel bad for those girls but to be perfectly honest its all on them.

Foxsports interviewed the SLC coach late in the streaming broadcast. He whined about UIL rules vs. NCAA, which apparently allow video review. Of course there is no video so his complaint is moot.

Regardless of what happened last year, he should have coached his girls to not push it. They were fighting for a medal so I understand aggressive racing, but this was a 400 free relay, not the 200. It's all on the coach.

I watched 4A in person. Some very nice races - the boys 200 IM record was crushed. DHP's (for you Swam4UT) girls are down this year. The diving judging was pathetically generous. I saw a 10 awarded and way too many 8s and a few 9s.

Erac,
They told us in the TISCA meeting the year they were going to add it that it would only be used to verify the DQ when one human judge called the false start.
Then they promptly turned around and started DQing teams based solely on the computer.
It's a travesty. The NCAA requires a human to call the DQ. The UIL should do the same.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing that HP's girls finished sixth and that the boys didn't have a swimmer in the meet.
I'm glad the parents got what they wanted.

the ncaa definitely does not require a human to call a dq. if the reaction time is within the tolerance, even two judges can't overturn it

Check out Big Ten results, Michigan's 200 medley relay, second swimmer. -.10 reaction time?

http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/sports/w-swim/stats/2010-2011/completemeetresults.html

Also, check out from that same meet that Wisconsin DQ'ed their VERY fast 200 free relay, swam it again in a time trial to get a time, and DQ'ed it again! Ouch! Hope they can still sneak it into NCAA's!

Hey Swam4UT - few years ago I had a very good conversation with John Bannon's parents (at Sectionals). Bannon was the 4A 200IM champ that year when my son was a junior. They had very nice things to say about you.

While on the subject of the UIL, as competitive as the state meet is - I think their selection process for divers is criminal. Unlike in swimming, there is no call up list. Top 2 in each region automatically advance to state. In many regions there are only five divers competing. Many of them barely have the 11 dives required to compete. Frankly many of them are borderline terrible. The 4A gold and silver girls divers came from our region. Our 3rd place regional diver would have finished 5th at state. 4A boys gold and bronze came from the same region. The bottom 8 state qualifiers are probably the equivalent of girls who swim 100 free in 1:20.

@ Blastoff - there is a tolerance allowed when it comes to breaking (can't remember exactly what it is) due to the fact that it works with a pressure pad and theoretically the pressure can be registered as 'off' but your feet/toes are still touching.

Judges can overrule a break, but not DQ a safe start...
