How long do you want to ignore this user?
My guess is that it has something to do with the 18 man squad on the conference A team. Two divers competing in 3 events each counts as one person, while three divers competing in 2 events each also counts as 1 person (out of the 18). Texas is playing to their strengths on the other side of the pool (not to say that Livingston isn't a terrific diver).

Actually didn't think about it that way. Obviously, he's their best diver, so one would expect him to be on the scoring team ahead of the other divers even with the roster limit, but Livingston probably already has his Zones marks, so they're giving a shot to the guys who don't? Makes sense.

Well, that almost seals that this is going to be a much tighter meet points wise than we've seen in the past.

GREAT time trials last night. interesting to see Ariens and Snowflake time trial their best events on the first night. Ariens probably done to get a confidence boost for him (and the rest of the guys) heading into the remainder of the weekend. Snowflake probably to get a race in before all his other events (since the 200br is on saturday) while hes extra fresh to relieve some of the pressure.

the 200MR time trial for the guys was definitely a better swim, but still prob not gonna be fast enough unfortunately. wouldnt be surprised at all to see that relay time trialed again later on this weekend, maybe give Ariens a shot at the 50bk...

FWIW, 1:26.39 was invited in the 200 medley last year. Right there on the bubble...

Wow, how about Dalton in the 50 free, second in prelims even including Texas' B swimmers. A&M 4 up, 2 down, Texas 2 up, 0 Down. Still aren't going to win the meet, but we could keep this close enough after 2 days to excite some people around the country.

very solid swims across the board this morning, on both sides. both teams set up nicely to score some big points tonight.

the ladies are gonna have a tough time in that 200FrRelay from the looks of it, and the guys could have a shot to surprise the horns.

Need a little lingo familiarization. What is meant by X up, Y down?

up is the amount of swimmers in A final, down is swimmers in the B final

Henrik had a swimoff in the 50 for the 8th place spot...they tied again! so that could potentially give us 5 spots in the big boy heat. Not sure when they will swimoff again, i would assume right before finals? tu also has one guy in the B heat, but that wont matter for too much compared against all our A points

Which begs the question, with the meet probably not to be won, is it worth racing it again? How many more relays is he likely to be in that will be fighting for NCAA spots?

I missed the Men's 200 FR final but looks like we DQed. Did someone jump the exchange? Hopefully we don't make a habit of it.

Camille Adams lowers her 500 Free conference record set this morning to 4:39.14. Not too shabby for a fish.

200 free relay had an early takeoff (no word on who). Time-trialed it later, and went EVEN FASTER 1:18.06. Man, if the boys could put up these times in the original race, rather than saving them for Time Trials they could give those Texas boys a battle!

Already more than made up the loss from the relay and sit in second by 1 point. Won't be as close to Texas as we'd hoped, but 2nd should be no problem.

With how well Balazs is swimming, and how inconsistent Dax Hill has been, there's a chance that the Ags will steal a win in the 200 free! Watch for that tomorrow!

Did you see splits on that relay anywhere? All I can find is the overall time. Still one heck of a swim!
texagg09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
splits for the 200FrR time trial:

Dalton 19.7
Balazs 19.3
Fonua 19.5
Troskot 19.5 (with a safe start)

that time should be fast enough to make NCs, so thats good.

i definitely agree, though i was going to predict that before i knew how dax was swimming haha. Balazs is such a fighter, and not to knock dax (i dont know the guy at all), but id put my money on Balazs in a slugfest race any day of the week purely because of his will to win. ESPECIALLY in his "baby" race, the 200Free
AGBlastoff

Yeah, they replaced Lindau with Balazs on the second go-around. That 19.3 really ensured that they'd get their NCAA invite, and didn't count against Balazs' event total (plus, Lindau had already swum about 47 races on the day by that point).

since Balazs didnt swim on the 200Medley it really doesnt matter for his event total, he couldve swam on it during the actual race and been fine.

the race im most looking forward to today is the 100 breast. the way our 3 breastrokers have swum so far, its gonna be goooooood.

Awesome swim by Camille. We were just talking about relay takeoffs by high school swimmers weren't we? Nice recovery in the TT. Solid day. We sure could use a men's 200 IMer.

How rested are our swimmers? Did pretty much everyone do a full taper and shave or are some waiting until NCAAs? Those freshman girls continue to amaze me with the times they are swimming.

Roller coaster of a morning for the guys, some good swims, some bad swims, and a lot of luck getting into the top 8 with poor times. Great job getting it done on the girls end.

I'm gonna throw some bold predictions out there for tonight, so book em right now, you heard it here first. Let's start it off event by event. We're calling this "Big Papa B's Bold Predictions" (classic and original title, I know):
(p.s. I'm only gonna predict the guys, ladies are too dang complicated overall, I think we can all agree with that one)

400 Medley Relay - Guys pull the shocker on the horns, starting the session off with an upset in dramatic fashion as Balazs comes roaring to the finish to out-touch Mr. Feegy.

400IM - No special predictions here really...but all 3 Ags break 3:55, one maybe even closer to 3:50...

100Fly - Ariens takes it easy as a warm up for his 100 back, Henrik finally mans up and breaks 48 to nab the 4th spot from the *****-cats guy. Nick Han and fishy Troskot battle it out for 1st in the B heat, both getting under 49 (again for Han)

200Free - Ags go 1-3-8. Balazs lowers his school record to take the win, Dalton breaks 1:36 to split up the horns and grab the bronze. Wilson rounds out the field with another solid swim, getting under 1:39.

100Breast - Probably my boldest prediction yet, Ags go 1-2-3, all 3 guys under the school record. Can't predict the exact order of our guys, cuz I don't want to upset anyone by picking favorites.

100Back - This one is a tough one to call...I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Ariens take this one easy as well, and get ready for a time trialed 200MedleyRelay tonight, getting his shot at the 50Bk (I think someone mentioned that earlier?). However, if they decide NOT to time trial tonight (which would make sense considering everyone on that relay would have swam at least once (most of them twice) already this session), Ariens will motor away to the top 3, sending the *****-cats crying to the bottom of the A heat with a 47low. Look for another solid swim out of the asian Mr. Han in the B heat again, that dude is swimming lights out.

Diving is difficult for me to predict, since its not really my area of expertise, but Grant wins with Cam 3rd just behind Drewy-poo. The other 2 Ags dive their hearts out also, finishing in the 5-7 spots. Big time points for the Dive Crew.

Think that's all I've got for tonight, check back in to see if I have time to make another list of "Big Papa B's Bold Predictions" for tomorrow. Can't promise anything, but if I get enough requests I might try and make extra sure I squeeze out the time for them.

Way to bring it, Papa. Those bold predictions are great especially when it involves Aggie swimmers closing the gap on the sips.

LOVE the predictions BigPapa, keep em coming (when you have time of course ;-D im sure youre busy this weekend)

we desperately need to have a great 400MR to start us off, that will be the key to having a solid showing at NCs, since we dont yet have the 200MR there. getting a swimmer from each stroke to the meet will be huge.

did i read correctly that the girls freshman backstroker broke Julia's 100bk record this morning?! our young girls are swimming out of their minds, and making everyone forget that we lost the top 2 classes (so far) in team history the past 2 seasons...

Looks like you are right. Paige Miller went 52.51 this morning, besting Julia's 52.70 from 2008. Looking for it to drop further tonight.

I don't understand the Big 12 record book. They list the 500 Free record (all meets) as 4:40.03 by Kristen Heiss in 2008. However, the Aggie record is listed as 4:38.24 in 2009 by Kristen in Houston. Explanation?
