Auburn was both anchored and led-off by foreigners.

Love seeing a Texas record go down though, at the hands of the Cardinal!

Auburn should be getting all the high school sprinters by just showing them the 50 free results.

Also, auburn put 4 Americans on a relay?

Did you see Cragin's backstroke split on the sips 400 medley? Hope he breaks 45 in the 100. Great kid I've been watching him since he was 10.

Something about glass houses?

Brett Hawke told me once that he can turn anybody into a 19-second 50 freestyler, that it's everywhere else where he has the challenge. Auburn had 9 of them today. I'm starting to believe him...

The Situation,

No they had foreigners on their relay, I was just giddy with the excitement of Auburn busting a sip record. As blast off said at least the Cards did it.

I took my kid to a swim camp there last year and have a picture somewhere of their Olympian wall. I suspect it will grow some more in 2012. They seem to have a couple really fast backstrokers right now as well.

How did we get the 400 medley relay into NCAAs? They weren't on the "invited" psych sheet?

Cam McLean must have nailed his 3 1/2 on the 1M board. He scored 79.5 points on it (four 9s given to him on that dive). 1st place in prelims after two rounds.

That'd be a great picture to see! Please share if you can find it.

I think by "challenges" he meant that he can make anyone sub-20 in the 50 free in his sleep, but the other races take some effort (just like it should from any coach).

AGBlastoff,

I would guess they make those sprinters largely due to his strength and conditioning Coach "PK". He puts them through some grueling dryland and really beefs them up. He worked with the kids at the camp and they were all on the verge of crying. Keep meaning to buy his book but haven't got around to it yet. Picture is on the wife's laptop I'll post when I get a chance.

Great job Cam and Grant.

The new club coach here is stressing dryland. Tuesday and Thursday before school.

Sorry, should be ASC-Aggie Swim Club. Wasn't sure which coach you were referring to.

Oh okay.. we are in Florida

Our new coach is from the Nashville Aquatics Club.

ALL of the kids have had their eyes opened with the workouts and the new dryland program starts Tuesday. The high school kids are excited.

since we had swum a 'B' time in season, we could swim it with any personnel we had already at the meet. hence the awkward combination we put up, and the less than desirable time (though not a bad time considering the personnel)

Ags should end day 1 in the top 10! (10th exactly, unless Minnesota overperforms by a lot). About as well as we could've hoped for on day 1. We scored in 2/6 events today...I don't think this will hold up tomorrow when we score in more like 2/8.

What a night for the ags!!!

First off, Grant and Cam, REALLY stepped up for us tonight, kudos to them!

and that relay was great. I think even though Dalton had the quickest split, Balazs was the biggest surprise on that one, 19.18 is no joke.

aggieswimfan
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Makany was smoking on that relay, 19.1! it'll be great to see what he and dalton can do in that 100/200free later.

Looks like the ags are entered in the 200medley relay. I wonder who will be swimming the backstroke?
Fonua swimming the breaststroke (he can sprint every stroke but nobody else can go 24low).
Any predictions on who does the backstroke and fly? I'm going with:
Makany
Fonua
Troskot
Dalton
- not a great relay, but could scrape in there for top 16.

Where can we view the live feed?

Not sure on that relay, could be a toss up even thought Makany had a decent 100 back today for not being a backstroker. Great day for the Ag's looking forward to the rest of the meet seeing how Dalton and Makany did. To get a live feed tomorrow I think it will be on ESPN3, today was on the Minnesota website, I saw the link from the Texas A&M swimming fan page on facebook. How about that Cal 400 medley relay!? 46.0 50.7 44.3 41.1, that is just incredible. Props to them, after seeing the first day how is everyones predictions for the winner of the meet/ how will our aggies do?

My guess is that they will keep the 200 medley relay as the same as the 400 medley relay. However, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw Troskot swim the 50 fly leg tomorrow so they can let Henrik rest for the relay on Saturday.

ESPN3 will stream the finals today and tomorrow. The Minnesota site is still listing that it will air the prelims.

Alrighty ladies and gents, let's take another "Bold Look" at this medley relay combo. I've got a wild and crazy guess, (you remember that show on Nickelodeon from way back in the day, "Wild and Crazy Kids"?), anyway, I'm gonna predict they throw Mr. Troskot up (or down? since he technically has to hop DOWN into the water to start? anybody? no? ok...) for the backstroke leg. I bet that dude can crank a 50 back fairly decently. Our favorite New Zealander will swim breatstroke (duh). I'm gonna be looking for Mr. Dalton to be using his ridiculous wing span (not to be confused with Scott Spann, who, by the way, smoked something ridiculous on that 100br in the morning 400medley relay), to bust out a crazy fast 50 fly. And, fresh off his outstanding relay split from last night, let's look for none other than the "Hungry Hungarian", Mr. Bah-lodge Mah-kah-nay! to bring it home on the free leg.

Not quite our fastest relay of the year, but should be good enough to squeak us into the B final so we can ruffle some tail feathers at night.

Balazs = monster

Conor Dwyer = disappointment

Nathan Adrian = THE man

A&M divers = awesome

Dalton won his 200 free heat from lane 3. Easily beat his seed time with a 1:35.61. Very nice swim (watched it online).

Balazs B-finaled the 200 free! 1:34.85-school record! Whoop!

Balasz makes the 'B' final with a 1:34.85. Another very good swim.

Dax went out fast like he is prone to do (under American record pace) but didn't die and hung on for 2nd seed overall for tonight.

BigpapaB - you couldn't have been more wrong on that 200 medlay call ;-)

How about balazs and Dalton in that 200? It'll be
interesting few years watching Dalton chasing that record! It'll be great watching balazs step up tonight again as well.

And daltons 19 flat on that medley relay was smoking...

I gotta agree that Dwyer is disappointing, but he's young and maybe the success he had at conference went to his head a little? Valuable lesson for him to learn while still in collegiate swimming...

I think that Florida tapered hard to try and win SEC's this year, knowing that they have a strong senior class that has never done it. But that's just my theory. Will certainly temper expectations of a London bid for him, at least in individuals.

WOW! Balazs and Dalton flying!! really makes me wish we coulda gotten that 800FrR to the meet, with those 2 as the backbone, that relay coulda made some noise with our top squad.

this might not be quite the year we had hoped for (aka not top 10), but you gotta be impressed with the youth of the team, and how guys keep stepping up. we talked about it with the women, and they are obviously at a whole other level, but still. Dalton a sophomore, Troskot a freshman, Lindau freshman. Thats 3/5 of the NC team underclassmen, and even Amini will be back as a senior next year. add in Boris coming back from injury, Omar, Wagner, Ariens, keeping our studly divers. Lots of other freshman that were very good this year, should be much better next year as well. im definitely excited looking ahead!

Nel makes the A final. Drew Livingston on fire so far. Cam misses. His #3 dive cost him.
