I just realized they are going to be left as the only men's team in the conference after A&M and Mizzou leave. Is there some independent league they would join or do they just go independent?

Well TCU will be in there now and if West Virginia joins the Big 12 it will remain a 3 team conference just with even more disparity I would think

Maybe since the conference will be easier to win, they'll swim through conference championships and focus even more strongly on NCAAs. Seems like this could help the women most since they HAD to swim fast at conference to battle the Ags.

I agree Spicewood it helps the women tremendously. Brackin has been about as good a recruiter and as bad a coach as possible. This should help only having to taper for NCAA's. Think this also is even worse for TCU swimming. Already bad.. what happens when they can't even taper for duel meets?

If they're smart, they'll adapt the Arizona strategy of pouring everything into their fall invite and NCAA's and everything else be damned.

I'm curious to see if Brackin will still schedule the women. With the Lone Star Showdown down the toilet (and her not in fear of Bultman out-coaching her annually at Big 12's), there isn't much of a 'need' to win that early season dual meet for them any more.

Arizona do that only to an extent, a few of their guys definitely rest up quite a bit for Pac->insert # here<'s.
I'm not sure if it's a full taper, but the times are 'rested' times at the least.

That aside, I completely agree with you, that would definitely be the best strategy....
