Breeja goes 59.73 to get us our first win. Otherwise the sippers are killing us.

Sips go 1 2 3 in 100 free. Our girls look tired (except Breeja).

Is there the chance we just ignored this meet?

The times for our best swimmers other than Breeja look nothing like a good time.

Breeja takes 200 breast over a fast closing Sogar. Ditmer 3rd. Another freestyle race. Uh oh.

I think Brackin must get a bonus for winning this meet.

Believe Sogar was a 60.14 in that 100....

Different year, same story. She rests her team, Steve doesn't really give much of a crap about the meet.

Unless you have a handful of Olympians good enough to overcome their taper job, and this was definitely one of their finer efforts believe me, you can't beat them when they do that crap.

The quotes in their story were absolutely nauseating. No wonder she gets recruits if she's saying misleading bullcrap like that.

Totally agree with Spicewood on the bonus comment. They take this dual meet WAY too seriously and they pay for it in February and March EVERY STINKING YEAR. Riefenstahl will be pouting on the pool deck and Gingrich will get smoked in all her events AGAIN in February. Mark it down. I've seen this show too many times before and know how it ends.

Totally called my shot on Bispo. Knew they wouldn't use her on the relay because they didn't need to.

Gotta give props again to Breeja. Beating a rested Sogar (did you see her close on the 200?), who is a top 5-10 breaststroker unrested, just continues to speak to her talent and drive. Very, very impressive. Simpson also had a solid meet. Would love to see more of that out of her. Divers were baller as usual.

Keep your heads up and keep working hard girls. The Longhorns know the thunder will be brought when the calendar turns, just like it does every spring.

The meet was a complete whipping. Maybe we expected that based on whatever phase of training the girls are in. Maybe tu's girls were half rested.

If you look at the freestyle events, the best finish we had was a 3rd. Their A and B relays beat our A in the 400 free relay.

The only good swims for us were Breeja's; Dittmer and Simpson were competitive. And Maclaine had some fight in her 500 free. But we were completely thrashed in all the freestyle events. Kinda painful to watch orange and white take 3 out the top 4 in every freestyle race.

Breeja probably overswam her 200 (split 1:02) because she died on the last 50 and just beat Sogar. But Breeja's 100 just missed an A cut. Outstanding swim. She looks extremely lean and fit.

Jaele looked fantastic. Potvin's 1 meter was excellent but she missed a few early dives on the 3 meter. Overall our divers were very good.

LOB - you're right about Brackin's quotes. They are nauseating.

I can't say enough about Jaele. I have watched a lot of diving the last few years. This is the first time I have seen her dive in person. Really good divers win because of consistency and details. Jaele has that and adds terrific strength off the board. Potvin is almost as good, but was just not as consistent. Potvin score 8.5s on one of her 1 meter dives and was just behind Jaele.

I'm with LOB. Look at t.u.'s times from their dual meet last weekend compared to this. The numbers won't lie.

The Ags will be fast at their Invite meet in 2 weeks, and in February and March when it counts. The divers will oontinue to swing a very big stick all year round. There are BIG things to come. Gig 'Em!

I know you guys are right. But it was painful to watch those freestyle races last night. Ugh. Most of the girls looked like they swam 10,000 yards that morning.

It's easy to look like we swam 10,000 that day when the other team probably didn't swim that all week long combined...LOL

Henry is still recovering from surgery in the spring. She will be fine and will be back and better than ever this spring. I'm betting she probably could have swam but they are playing it super safe to make sure she's ready when it truly matters. I'll go on record as saying she'll be markedly better than last year once she does get cranked up. Can't wait to see it.

Keep in mind, Ibanez didn't even make the trip so our sprint free looked even worse than it was. That said, I sure hope we see some improvement at the invite in Knoxville from every freestyle sprinter not named Ibanez. She gets a pass due to Pan Ams being so recent and whatever kept her out of the Texas meet. We have got to be better than we have been in sprint free. We simply have to.

No idea on Lujan. Crazy to think we could put four divers capable of scoring at NCAA's on the roster. Love it.

I was at the meet too. Also heard that t.u. rested their swimmers for most of the week. Our swimmers didn't rest at all.

We have a big invite coming up. Heard that Steve was going to do some things to test the swimmers bodies. Of course, they also have the holiday training set coming up. So we are no where near where we'll be come Jan.

For us casual fans, what were Brackins quotes?
SpicewoodAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?

quote:
"I did not think that we would be that dominant across the meet, not because I thought Texas A&M would be better than us but because I did not know we would be that good," said head coach Kim Brackin. "These girls showed what they wanted and they went after it. That is what I am really impressed about. Top to bottom I can't think of anyone that had a poor swim."

I heard that and thought it came across like she had no idea how her team would perform, what their attitudes were and what their goals were going into that meet.

If I was a recruit or parent of those swimmers, that quote would scare the living daylights outta me...
