Looks like we have lost a lot of talent. The men are ranked 12th and the women 17th. It's been a long time since we've seen either team ranked that low.

I'm surprised too.
I bet Coach Henry has some new talent
and rankings this early just based on
returning athletes...maybe someone who knows will post their thoughts.

Sprints have always been the strong part of Pat Henry's teams. On the women's side we lost Gabby Mayo, who never did get back to form after her injury in 2010, Natasha Ruddock, who also never fully came back from injury, Jeneba Tarmoh, and Jessica Beard. That's a lot of points in sprints, hurdles, and relays. Couple that with Porscha Lucas and Ashika Charan the year before. None have been replaced - there is potential in all the younger athletes, but its undeveloped at this point. It's not surprising the Aggies are not currently on top of the heap.

It shouldn't go unnoticed that Dan Waters did a whale of a job in recruiting many different areas over the last several years. That loss may hurt a little more than first thought.

A&M would be right at the top of the rankings again this year had they had Tarmoh return for her senior year.

You really can't recruit with money that you don't have at the time.

The men will do much better in that if Webb runs.

I also believe that this years recruits (Freshamn this year) were all recruited while Waters was here.

We lost a lot of points from the past championship teams. We can't replace so many great ones in just one year. It will take a couple of years.

The past three years were great years for A&M. No college in history has had such a great run.

Ags are matriculating up the polls. Men #8, Women #9. Keep an eye on the updated poll scheduled for the 14th, as it will be the first one that uses only 2012 indoor marks and not projections based on returning performances. Home meet on Saturday, Feb 11 and then the Big 12 Championships in College Station on Feb 24 and 25.

From what I've seen this 2/13 poll looks accurate as I've seen most of these team. Its also interesting that A&M is moving in the right direction but Arkansas looks strong. Arkansas is one of the teams I haven't seen much of this year but Florida, LSU (men) and Oregon (women) are strong. Big 12 Tournament on the 24th and 25th. It would be nice to kiss the Big 12 goodbye on our own track with a win for both the men and women.
