to repeat a post on collegeswimming.com's message board:

'But they beat A&M in the dual in November!'

What is going on in Missouri? Surely they don't have our mens relay correct? The B relay is marked non-scoring but has the A team and 2nd fastest time.

Either way - ouch. Thought they'd be better with how well they've been swimming. The 1:19.13 won't get an invite.

Troskot's 20.27 leadoff is nothing special and didn't help. His 50 races are plus/minus 0.50 every time he swims.

I think the slow relay was put in because Loncaric is limited in his # of relays he can swim.

Weird night of finals. Almost everyone except mens 500 was slower than they were in the morning. Still don't understand the mens 200 free relay if the results are correct. Too many events for some of the men?

Women got the job done. Jaele dove badly in finals. She changed her dive list to take out a dive that didn't go well in prelims. That didn't help though as she finished 7th. Potvin and St. Germain dove well. Tons of points for the Ags on 1M.

At this point - after two years - I really though Troskot would regularly swim mid-high 19s.

TheSituation is correct. Loncaric can only swim four relays so they made their actual A team their B team. The coaches went for the qualifying time instead of the second place finish. Unfortunately it did not pay off in a time they needed.

Too many great swims to name, particularly in the morning by both teams. Outscoring Texas in the 500 free with basically the same number of A swimmers was big for the girls. Diving seems to be the difference at this point. Hope it continues.

Today the girls should win the 400 MR, 400IM, and 100 breast. We might not take a lot of points in breaststroke because we aren't so deep after Breeja. Texas hurts us in the 200 free. We split the points in 100 fly and 100 back. And we should score a lot in the 3M. Texas should have more than 1 diver in the 3M, but they won't be fighting for the win.

Excluding diving, Texas has used 1 more individual swim than us (by my count). Tack on the diving, and we're probably 1 swim further in to take a 40 point lead.

I think Dittmer moves up a few spots off of her 1:02 to help in the 100 breast, but Texas should still win that event.

Ags just came out and blew away the Breast!!!

Breeja with a NCAA record and Amini with a school record, unreal swims from both of 'em.

Ags are looking nicely setup for tonight, can't wait....

and Mizzou appears to be doing a worse job than yesterday keeping the live results working correctly and on time...

Bunch of events just not updated at all, skipped over....

So long as girls keep swimming like they have been, I think this morning's turn of events might have given them the leg up they need to win the meet. The backstroke was an absolute killshot.

And what else can you say about Larson. Seriously. We're getting the chance to watch one of the great ones. Of all-time. Sit back and enjoy Aggie fans.

A slightly fun storyline: Moldenhauer and Pavlin were teammates at Churchill high. I think most would agree Moldenhauer was rated a far better prospect. Moldenhauer swam a 52.8 100 back at 5A state her junior year, and a 53.4 her senior year. Pavlin swam a 55.6 the same year. Look who is swimming faster now. Moldenhauer swam a 53.25 100 fly her senior year, and today she swam a 54.25 for 6th place going into finals.

Pavlin swam 1:56 in the 200 IM last night when her best high school time was 2:01. Pavlin continues to improve and seems very likely to surpass Moldenhauer's achievements.

Spicewood, that is Exhibit A, B, and C that we should be using in recruiting.

The McElhaney experiment is another. Think she regrets transferring? I bet not. In my opinion, McElhaney and Hersey are the smartest two swimmers they have had there under Brackin because they had the foresight and the strength to recognize something wasn't right in dodge and got the hell out. How they are still getting recruits that are interested in reaching their full potential is beyond me.

There are a few posts on the cs.com site saying perhaps they aren't resting until NCAA's. 1) many of their girls aren't even qualified yet and 2) 2010 NCAA's called and wants to know why no one's paying attention to it! We've seen this show before Margaret!!!

It looks like the Texas girls all went out drinking last night and can't swim today. Their 100 back performance is embarrassing. They put one girl in the A finals, half as many as Missouri.

On the men's side Texas looks like they intend to coast. Do just enough to win. Only one scorer in 100 breast. As usual they dominate 200 free. Our guys are swimming well.

LOB - I agree with you 100% on recruiting with this proven record of superior development of our athletes. Pavlin has to be very pleased with her progress now. Imagine what Breeja is thinking now.
Interesting comparison for today - the top qualifier in 4A boys this morning swam a 48.04 100 back, faster than everyone in prelims at the Big12 championships. The same kid should be seeded 1st in 100 fly with a 48 low, except he flinched at the start of his race at regionals. This is a kid going to Michigan.

Looks like Moldenhauer redeemed herself. But the Ags scored 70+ points in backstroke!

Didn't expect better from Breeja since our girls seem to be swimming fastest in the morning.

But what a good day for the women. 148 point lead now.

Nice day for the guys too. Impressed by Simon Frank, Amini, Dalton (relay split was outstanding), and Boris.

Don't forget john ariens on relay, he stayed in touch with Cole cragin. And how about john Dalton relay exchange time, at +0.01, then held off Jimmy Feigen for win.

Don't want to jinx it but things looking positive for Aggie women to take the last Big 12 championship tonight.

Don't worry about jinxing it. A 150 pt lead is pretty much insurmountable the way our team is performing. It's not a matter of if we win at this point but by how much.

both teams swimming VERY well!

look for the men to fly in that 400FrR tonight. if they can get that relay to NCs they will have all 5 A relay personnel at the meet. first time that has happened in a while i believe, and will be a HUGE help towards that top 10 goal. if they miss in the 400FrR, i would expect at least one time trial of that 200FrR tomorrow. so far that was really the only swim that has underperformed IMO.

Women up by 170 with only relays left to go. Men 180 back of Texas, 49.5 up of Missouri. AKA locked in for 2nd, regardless of what happens on the relay.

Missouri deserves an award for worst live results management. Hard to believe USA Swimming runs Grand Prix events there.

Help Coach Brackin write her press release. Here is her quote from the dual meet in November to get you started..

"I did not think that we would be that dominant across the meet, not because I thought Texas A&M would be better than us but because I did not know we would be that good," said head coach Kim Brackin. "These girls showed what they wanted and they went after it. That is what I am really impressed about. Top to bottom I can't think of anyone that had a poor swim."

Still love these comments about the dual meet:

"It’s not going to make Texas fans happy, but the conspiracy theorist in me can’t help but look at the fact that Texas hasn’t earned a (public) verbal yet and think that maybe they put a few days of light workouts in before this one. This is the last meet for the Longhorns before signing day, and big performances here wouldn’t hurt in closing some of the few big recruits that are still up in the air. If the Longhorns didn’t have the history of disappointment in March, it might not be as easy to make the connection, but the times were just a little too fast to feel comfortable about it."

Strategy seemed to work out well for Brackin once again!
