Spice - agree with you on the finals times not being all that special. Was expecting more after what I thought was a relatively fast morning. Anyone else think the top tu guys aren't fully tapered? D'innocenzo, surhoff, mcbroom all going slower than expected....

That was a clutch swim from our MR guys, we needed that pretty badly by the end there.

Thought we could've squeezed a bit more out of that 2MR this morning.
I'm assuming we went with Troskot anchoring to try save Dalton for the 200 free and 800 relay?

5-Doubt

That and he's probably swimming every other relay and 3 individual events.

I was thinking the same thing...seems like surhoff was the bad-ace not too long ago, competing for #1, and now hes a bit further behind the pack...

Dalton cant be on all 5 relays and swim all 3 individual events. so it was either the 200MR or 200fr. took a gamble that he would score in the 200fr (just missed), but if you look at the MR, Dalton wouldve had to split sub-19 for that relay to make the big boy heat, so it wouldntve mattered.

gonna need that 800 to move up to have any shot at top 10...

EDIT: 5-Doubt beat me to the punch!

The most impressive single swim so far to me is the 51.32 100 breast by the AZ freshman Cordes. American record and very fast.

Otherwise it looks like a lot of guys are swimming their guts out in prelims and don't have anything left for finals.

A few of tu's swimmers like Wilcox and Surhoff seem to be fading after a few good years. tu's depth in the 200 is less than it has been. I think they are all tapered. My friends who are close to tu said Eddie was disappointed in their Big 12 swims and half seriously said the Missouri pool was slow. Maybe a few aren't tapered for their once in a lifetime meet (that would be Trials). But Feigen, Dax, Friedland are swimming fast, if not dominant so far.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, this was the only event that Troskot was invited in, so he had to swim it at least in prelims.

Ah, I thought it might be a schedule conflict (which, IMO I would have said we should have put Dalton up and sacrificed the ind. 2 free) but didn't look at the Troskot-invite situation. Good call!

the 50 was a bonus swim, Shane.
but I guess the running sentiment implied is that Dalton was supposed to save the team!

Impressive win by Hill.
Texas and Cal are putting on a great show. Saturday night will be fun!

Shane, once you're invited you can swim any event that you have a B cut in, but you have to swim at least one race that you were invited in.

In hindsight they should've scratched Dalton from 200. USC should've scratched Morozov from the 200 as well. It happens.

Ohio State looked much better on day 2. Indiana huge diving points. Grant only 16th on the 3-meter + nobody on platform. Going to take something really special on the last day to take higher than 12th.

Ags seeded 8th tonight in the 4FR. Dalton has the potential to win the B final. Should be an entertaining night. Will Cal win or can Texas make a huge comeback?

Texas seeded 1 and 3 in platform diving for finals tonight. As is they could score 37 pts. in diving. That would erase the deficit to Cal. But just eyeballing who is in finals - it looks like Cal will edge Texas.

Wilcox probably isn't scoring in the mile (11th with fast heat to go), so Cal is probably out of the team battle.

Congratulations to the coaches (and support staff) for another successful season -with the current depth of our team.

the 1650 killed our chances for 12th. the two georgia dudes swam fabulous.

We lost a few points here and there, where we expected them.

Dalton, overall, had a fabulous meet -two hairy thumbs up!!

I think the swimmers performed well overall. Dalton showed he is THE MAN. The single real downer was diving.
