Shawn Clarke-Barbados

Clarke is not on the Barbados team (yet). Word on the street is he's been getting yo-yo'd by his federation and/or FINA re: what he needs to qualify. I'm not optimistic at his chances this late in the game. We will see.

Nice picture and article on Breeja in the Statesman.com Austin paper. Can't wait to see her swim the 200BR.

Which of those are medal contenders?

Congrats also to all the Aggie girls who have finaled in Omaha...What an incredible accomplishment and reflection of the program.

Breeja is #2 in the world now and she beat the person that ranks #1 last night so that should tell you volumes on her medal chances.

A few of the others, if on their game, have the potential to earn medals as well.

Soni is still the favorite in the 100 breast in London, but Americans are so far ahead of the world Breeja has a great medal shot.

She's the only serious medal shot. RE: Shaun - he's been invited or not by FINA. If its undecided it's up to Barbados, but they would have had to declare to FINA already.

Bultman now has 5 American Olympians in history. Buzz on deck is that he's the most underrated coach in the country right now.

Don't count out Julia.. Currently #9 in the world in an event (100 bk) where the top 10 competitors are separated by a second or less. Should be a fun one to watch.

Julia, stop posting using Shane's login! ;-)

Never count out Julia! In the 800Free Relay at Big XII's 2010, she was a body length behind of Hersey at the dive and finished a body length ahead of her.

OldArmy, they are all still Aggies, every bit as much as you are. I can promise you if you knew them and saw how hard they worked and what kind of people they are you wouldn't be critical one bit -- and you might even root for them over the Americans in their events. I know I am.

A&M has been lucky to attract such good representatives of the school from all over the world. I'll be cheering for all of them to win gold.

Maybe the experience for Cammile and Breeja will mean more to them because they come from the fastest swimming nation in the world? Maybe it will mean just the same. Though who can ever really say?
You can't deny that making the US Team is a little more exclusive, and a lot more special! I'll side with you on that.

But, that isn't to take anything away from any Aggie (past or present, regardless of nation) who has competed at an Olympic games.
Having ambassadors representing Aggie Pride, in any kind of capacity, at an Olympic Games isn't something to turn your nose up at because of national affiliation. It's something to celebrate and share together!

So hats off to the Ladies and Gents for making it, Soak it up, and enjoy the experiences that very few people get to have. You are the 0.1%

So, not to be the fly in the ointment, but was that cleared by compliance? I know athletes can accept money to cover travel costs, but can their families?

If you can be classified as a "booster," which most on Texags probably can, I'd be very careful donating...

Since you are getting something in return, it shouldn't be a problem. They are aware that what can appear on the shirts is limited by compliance which tells me they have already checked it out with them.
