Not really a Stars fan, but I go there to see NHL games, as its the closest venue. Flyers and Canucks are my 2 favs.

However, anyone else excited to see Jagr on the team?

I know he's 40 now, and this will probably be his only year. But, he put up some pretty good stats last season, even if he is slower than he used to be.

I'm looking forward to seeing him play, its always great to see an all-time great. He should be able to help the club improve its scoring a little, but, for me, Ray Whitney is the more exciting move in that respect.

I think the club has a chance at a playoff birth, which would be great for the new ownership. If the old guys can hold the fort for a couple of years, there is some good talent coming up the minor leagues.

This should definitely be a do or die season for Joe Nieuwendyk as the GM. More concerned about the NHL facing a lockout on September 15th. Based on Bettman's record and Donald Fehr now heading the NHLPA, hockey fans should definitely expect a work stoppage.

Well, I think he made a difference for some of the younger guys on the Flyers. Reportedly, he really showed them what it took for training - with his nighttime and midnight training sessions. Many of the players went there with him. He got a set of keys to their training rink so he could go anytime he wanted to.

this team is in desperate need of new uniforms. As for Jagr, yes it will be cool to see him play in Dallas (if he can stay healthy). This year... everyone is on audition.

Yes indeed. I actually like their alternate jersey better, but I was told it was discontinued a season or two back. And, there are very few left on various websites - and in odd sizes. But, I liked the alternate jersey better than the ones they have now...

For just the pure jersey - I like the Canucks one a lot.

new to TexAgs but I was definitely fired up to see a thread about the Dallas Stars....favorite team and favorite sport.

As for the upcoming season, I'm anxious to see if Jagr is going to help elevate the play of Benn and Eriksson. As much as I hate to say it, the impending lockout may actually play to the Stars advantage with the shorter season and older players we've acquired.

I was looking forward to the annual stars meet and greet. Always held in Sept. With Jagr, I wanted to go and score another Jagr autographed jersey. But alas... Not gonna happen with the impending lockout. They have yet to schedule it.

Jagr owns a Czechoslovakia hockey team. Because of the strike, he is playing on his own team right now.

I just broke down and bought a Jagr Team Kladno jersey

He's one of my favorite players. I know this is a Stars thread, but I was sad that the Flyers passed him by with their big dollar offers to some other players (they had no cap room unil those offers were accepted or rejected), so he signed with the Stars after being in limbo for about a week. Too bad he may not play here at all this season if this lockout doesn't end...
