Damn I wish I had Sir and Taps free time. I have been playing tennis for 13 years and never given this much thought into an arguement as you people have. If you two are students....study, get a girlfriend, get laid, do something. If you are adults with jobs - get to work.

Gig'em.

ESPN News will be announcing the brackets around 3:30pm today (April 30).

Taps, can you please provide me any evidence of this? If so, can you please provide me any evidence that it is illegal.

Otherwise, I think Kman is right.

HEEELLLOOOOOOOO!!!! Did you read my damn post? I said it's a LOOPHOLE. I didn't say it was illegal moron. Although baylor likes bend the rules, I've stated that they didn't actually break them in this case. (Although the NCAA has found the "bending of the rules" significant enough to change the current protocol.) Must I remind you that baylor has flirted with cheating before?
http://www.ncaa.org/releases/infractions/2000122102in.html

They DID however break them in the way they change their rosters around all season. The #1 player in the nation not playing on court 1? You can spin it any way you want...it's not right and the rules of the game say so.

A&M men and women will host in College Station. The men get a rematch against Georgia.

Never did I say it was illegal how baylor is recruiting...I said it is a LOOPHOLE in the current rules. It's enough of a loophole that the NCAA will be making some changes to deal with it. Remember, baylor has a recent history cheating in the area of recruiting, so why does this surprise anyone that they are finding any way possible to bend the rules? By the way, here is that link to their 2000 violation and sanctions:

Could the NCAA Infractions Division be visiting the Bears sooner than later?

The rumor mill is starting to churn.

I don't know a lot, but I do know that if Baylor gets an inquiry from the NCAA for alleged violations occurring while on probation, Baylor is going to get hammered if and when those violations are proven.

Taps, I asked what professional players BU has. You still haven't answered my question.

It's not the place of this forum to declare any individual by name to be in violation of such rules SIR. That sort of thing can get the moderators around here upset and more importantly it's the school's problem. Alegedly.

Sir Eddie…everybody knows some of the Baylor players played on the pro tours in Europe…that is common knowledge. But just for more proof, I checked out the ATP Tour web site and found the following information about 5 of Baylor’s current players. These figures are NOT made up….anyone can find them at atptour.com.

Benedikt Dorsch – Career Earnings - $5,033
Benjamin Becker - $3,474
Ivor Lovrak - $1,616
Zoltan Papp - $1,025
Matias Marin - $621

Let the numbers speak for themselves.

Good job Sherlock. I always had been told that this information was available, but never spent the time to find it out. Hopefully we will get this all cleared up in the near future.

From the ATP website:

Career Earnings on the Tour:

Lester Cook $3,992.00
Matt Loucks $0.00
Ryan Newport $772.00
Bryan Wooten $0.00

Thats four Aggie players that have played on the pro tour. Are they professionals?

Pot. Meet kettle.

The numbers speak for themselves. Crybabies.

Gee...Thanks alot sir eddie...rubbing it in that 2 of our players earned absolutly nothing. How bad are we? We can't even find players with higher career earnings than Baylor.
Thank goodness for Lester...keeping us in there with you guys. My calculations may not be accurate, but the 5 Baylor guys still out-earned our 2 by more than $6000. Plus, the ATP only lists guy with an ATP tour card. Who knows how much was earned outside what was reported. You know, the European exchange rate really has changed alot over the years.
Sir Edmund Bearke

Ok, so now its not having played on the professional tour, its how much you made on the professional tour.

I tell you what. Ya'll decide what the rules should be so A&M-College Station can beat little ole Gaylor in tennis and then get back to me.

Playing the game with ya'll is no fun when you keep changing the rules.

BTW: Since I am sure ya'll will start crying about age issues next, please familiarize yourself with NCAA rule 14.2.3.2 first. You can find it here http://www.aggieathletics.com/nonsports/COMP/pdf/procedures/internationalsa.pdf

www.atptour.com reports prize money even if it was not accepted. It just means they "won" that much money playing as amateurs, but it does not mean they took it. You can search for almost any good college player and the website will show some earnings. It does not mean they are cheating or accepting money. If Phillip King had accepted the $70,784 the website states, he would not currently be playing for Duke.

I just got back to this thread. Sir, I hope you know better than to suggest that the A&M players you mentioned took the prize money indicated. If they had taken so much as a dollar their eligibility would be gone, and I think you know it. Therein is the problem between the European version of amatuer and the American. The NCAA should address this so we will not be further bothered with this issue. The age issue, and what the players are doing from 19-21 is a problem, but if they were really working and decided to go back to school, or were player "football" and decided to give education and tennis a go that would be quite alright.
Sherlock

Let's talk age, Eddie. There is no way Dorsch and Becker are 21 or 22. Why, just look at 'em. They gotta be at least 26 or 27. Becker looks like he is pushing 30. And Dorsch has his knees wrapped like he's too old to still be out there running around. Plus, we all know how easy it is to mislead American's with those foreign birth certificates...ask any major league baseball organization.

Plus, I know the money earned by most amatures on the ATP tour is usually given to than as prizes like bags, shoes, rackets, etc., but no cash. Amatures are allowed to earn so much in gifts without losing their college playing status.

My purpose in my reply was to show just absurd this entire thread has become. The entire tennis world knows Baylor has "BENT" the rules a bit...but they are still within the rules. A loophole or not, Baylor is still within the rules, barely, for now. The rules will change next year, and Baylor will still maintain the team it has now, until the guys graduate, turn pro, or need walkers or wheelchairs to move around the courts.

Geez...it's just tennis. You won the Big 12 and are the number 2 seed in the tourney. Quit YOUR crying and just go play the game. Admit that Baylor "BENT" the rules and we'll call it even. Case closed, argument over.

Exactly. For some reason, Sherlock failed to mention that simple fact in his post.

It was a page straight out of Silvertap's book.

the players are allowed to accept money to cover their expenses. they can basically accept $80 a day while they are in the tourny. the main concern with the baylor players is not the money they received in atp events, but their status playing on geman club teams in the "bundeisleiger" (please excuse the spelling). these guys have played on club teams, with professionals and can make up to 50k a year. the problem is proving it, no one in germany will turn them in.
Rocket_

Cory is right on and it is most difficult to prove the case due to obvious limitations. Until new rules are passed to prevent this inequity there will continue to be coaches like knoll who chose to go over the line. However, baylor is a beatable team and the ncaa tournament has a way of exposing teams who have character issues at the top.
Coryhub
How long do you want to ignore this user?
i hope your right, Rocket, about Baylor being a beatable team and the NCAA is where its exposed. we should play them second round. we played them close earlier. we lost 5-2, but lost one match 7-5 in the third, and served to split sets in two other matches, but we played at home and playing in waco is a different story.
Rocket_
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Cory...you have to win the dbls point to put pressure on them. then hope to beat reiner, marin and have your 6 guy win over igor when he gets a little tight...it is hard to win at 1-3 on them....however i think that if toni plays well he can win on a good day at the top of the lineup.
Coryhub
How long do you want to ignore this user?
rocket, you know your stuff. when we played we beat marin and reiner. lost to igor 7-5 in the third. won at 3 dbls. toni served for the set, and we lost in a tiebreaker to dorsch. that's exactly what we need to do again but win a few key points. the good news is that it seems like dorsch is wearing down and is beatable.

Why in the hell do people write crap about other teams on TexAgs? Maybe if it had something to do with A&M, but Baylor vs. TCU in tennis is about like watching A&M and Baylor in football. I give it to Baylor, nice campus, whorish girls, what else can you see at Baylor, a bunch of queers running around, a football team that could rival most high schools in Texas, but not all. Oh, I did almost forget, they do have John Lucas the mullet man.

JCH,
it has to do with NCAA's, and i played tennis at A&M, so usually what i do write is valid, unlike peole you, who have no college athletic experience. plus, i am a college coach and have insight to the whole amateur vs pro and age restrictions rule changes they are looking in to changing, which was talked about in great detail in this forum.

Cory, I know you, I know your a coach. All I was saying is that you and rocket talking about TCU vs. Baylor isnt exactly something most aggies care about. I know that yall were talking about the rules for a while, but then yall talked about yall and baylor. Didnt mean to be a dick, sorry hub. As for rocket, hes the biggest idiot I have ever meet. I will never agree with anything rocket says even if it is true due to the fact he is a waste of space idiot.

Actually I think most Aggie tennis fans would be interested in Cory's perspective on Baylor and /or TCU or any other aspect of college tennis. I know I like hearing his opinions. As far as RH, you may not like him but he does know a lot about college tennis. I enjoy hearing his perspective also.
