From what I understand that was the result of a family fight between Tony and his sisters. This series will never reach the popularity of the old USAC as long as that family controls the speedway and the IRL. Which is to say its going to be a long time.
Too bad, 2012 was generally accepted to be the best ever in the IRL format and they seemed to be heading in the right direction.
