Psych sheet posted anywhere? Who's swimming what? Expectations?

Who's in the know?

Expectations:

Dalton wins 50 and 100 Free. Declared sprint king of the carolinas.
PMS wins the 200 back
OE gets a top spot in the distance events. I have no idea how good the competition is in his events.
No idea how many freshman are making the trip.
Frank wins the 400IM (if any are scheduled).


Overall a good first meet for the male Ags.

As do the women and their two Olympic gold medalists!

Expect women to roll, even though it's not our typical MO to swim fast this early in the year. Sarah Henry v. Stephanie Peacock in the 500/1000 should be the highlight of the wmoen's meet.

For the men, the most significant learning point of this meet will be nailing down their leadership. Whoever wants to captain that boat this year needs to step up now, because the guys who at least I perceived to be the leaders last year are mostly gone. Will be hard for those of us not within the team to see that though.

Would love to see Dalton go a 20.7 or better in his 50, 45-mid in his 100, or a 1:40-mid in his 200. Who knows what he'll swim, but that would be a great start to his season.

Expect Breeja to break the NCAA Record in the 200 breaststroke. (kidding guys!)

I didn't realize there are 30 kids on the roster. How many get to travel to the meet?

Amanda Rutqvist is a pretty impressive breaststroker. Lifetime bests of 1:00 and 2:07. Breeja should have someone to race other than her own teammates.

She has a great training partner in Diego. There's no room for another one.

Spice -- The freshman McGregor is no joke either. This might be the year we go from having that one great breaststroker to having two.

I know about McGregor. That's why I said Breeja should at least have someone on the OTHER team to race.

OE 4th in the 1000. JM finishes 6th

USC with 2 1:38s in the 200 free. Based on their performance last year I'm thinking they might be a little rested.

Who rests in mid-October?

They were slightly rested. Who rests in October? I have been in meets where that has happened. I have seen other meets where a smaller school rested to beat a USCalifornia or Zona type team (not saying that is the case here). Look at their end of year times from last year.

OK. But is this something you know about them or just assume so based on times. What is slightly rested? Light practice Thursday and Friday?

Really good first meet for the women. Still plenty to work on, but freestyle group has a lot more bullets to fire this year (4 sub 24 flat starts, 49.5 relay anchor, solid group of 200's). Plus every diver male and female at the meet made at least 1 zone qualifying score.

Please don't underestimate my swimming knowledge. It's easy to take a few days off of weights at this time of year to perform well. UT women did that under Brackin (sp).

Edit: TCU always avoided scheduling certain teams in order to have a better meet record. Resting for dual meets not a new thing. It's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just what some coaches prefer.

Decent meet from the guys. Couple of nice times but a few red flags as well - even though most those were pretty much expected....

A really solid diving performence by Hayden there, with a bit of luck he could get up to scoring range at NC's.

Really impressed with the girls, especially Caroline Mc and Tess Simpson - never expected their 200's to be as good as that this early.

Fairly interested in the mansfield meet next weekend - if nothing else but to see how the tu women come out with their new coaches.

Thumbs up for Hayden's diving performances. With a little more experience he will be an elite performer consistently and he'll do very well at NCs. The other diver , Ford, made NCs last year, correct?

the mansfield meet is only men this year, i think. texas women will not face the aggies until ncaas.

love to see hayden putting up 400+ on the 3m already. cole miller from USC finaled twice at SECs and got dominated.

I don't praise Florida for beating us in football. I don't praise USC/UNC for beating us in (men's) swimming & diving.

Losing that Danish breaststroker hurt. We need a breaststroker.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new freshman that came in December to swim breaststroke. Either way, W. Wagner will be able to fill the role adequately.

i do not think the dane was a breaststroker. believe he was predominately a freestyler.
