Lots of big names in this meet. I'm pretty sure our friends in Austin are resting for this meet.

Lots of NCAA contenders swimming. Some fast prelims swims already:

Ledecky (15 yrs old) 4:36 500 free
Haley Anderson (last year NCAA champ) 4:41
Tosky 4:42

Women's 200 IM A final all 1:58 or better

Men's 200 IM very fast - A final 1:45 or faster
(Lochte at 1:44)

Women's 50 free fast - A final 22.48 or faster; Magnuson 21.86.

Men's 50 free very fast - Nathan Adrian popped an 18.82 with Grevers not far behind.

The Texas swimmers, both men and women, do not look super fast so far.

Has Ledecky made a decision on pro vs. college? I'm very impressed with Adrian's 50 free. Lochte's 200IM should be fun to watch in finals.

There were some very good swims this morning.
Grever's was a 19.11...

Don't think the texas men are too rested, and none of their 'big names' are shaved.
Not sure on their women.

Apparently most of Zona's women are rested. Not sure if they were cruising this morning, but thought they would be faster.
Zona's men were probably right where they wanted to be for the morning.

Young freshman girl who stood out to me this morning was Tosky out of USC.

What was interesting is that there are no current college kids that made it back to the men's 50 free A final, and that out of the top 16, only 4 are current student athlete's.
Yes, I know muscle and anaerobic conditioning only peaks at a later age, but that's still a low number, regardless.

USC looked strong in the relay and IM for women. I wonder if the A&M girls might have been a little faster at this meet vs. Houston meet considering the faster competition and better conditions.

I was told by some Texas male swimmers that they were resting for this meet. I think Eddie really would like to swim through Big12s since they have just TCU and WVU to race. Did they shave? I don't know because I'm not there. I know the girls were resting too. Capitani is trying not to repeat the mistakes made by Brackin.

Lochte was faster than I expected. I figured he's been jetting around a good bit.

I wonder how fast Franklin will be in the 200 IM tonight. She hasn't raced it that much.

Tosky is a great swimmer. She came to CS multiple times for Sectionals - I kept hoping she would want to come here.

No doubt in my mind on this. But they'll get that chance in February and March and that's all you need.

The A&M girls may have swam faster, but the Houston meet gave them some clear water to win in.

I think the main reason you don't see the A & M programs doing these meets is timing on the academic calendar.

They start exams this coming week, kind of a big ask to have them do a multi-day meet the weekend before.

Ryan Murphy with a 1:35 200 free in prelims. What can't this kid do?

My kids team is road tripping tomorrow from Houston after practice to meet Lochte and watch finals. They are all pretty fired up.

Sogar throws down a 2:05.04 200 breast this morning. Great swim for her and easily a lifetime best. She was 59.27 at the 100.

200 breast at NCAAs will be one hell of a race between Breeja, Sogar, and Leverenz.

My son was able to meet and get pics with Dwyer, Lochte, and Rowdy. Very cool those guys made themselves available.

Ryan Murphy just secured himself an NCAA title in the 200 back.

Was lucky enough to see Cordes & Burkle go head to head tonight.
Cordes is amazing for his age. Felt almost like I was watching the male version of Breeja - his style/stroke in swimming the 200 is similar.

Joao De Lucca had an very good 100 tonight as well, gonna be interesting to see what he does at NC's.
