I have seen multiple stories on MaryBeth Sant, a sprinter from Colorado, who has one of the top 10 times in the world. The last article I saw said she was deciding between Oregon and TCU. I was hoping that they got the second school wrong and meant Texas A&M.

Any of you that follow our track recruiting know if we are in the running?

7.30 isn't world top 10. Still an impressive that could make a real impact for our program. The question is can she duplicate it? Did she peak last weekend? That's a big jump over her previous times (7.46+).

I have no idea if we tried or are trying to recruit her.

I don't follow the times that closely so I took the article for its word. I wonder if they are claiming Top 10 Time in 2013. Since there have not been many meets I guess it could be possible.

But thanks for the correction

The women's team has two from Colorado - including Natosha Rogers. Annie Kunz is track/soccer. So it looks like Colorado isn't a place we ignore.

Top ten times for 2013 are sub 7.2s. A&M ladies have ran sub 7.3 a few times.

I don't know much about her, but two things observed from her results...

First, her 100m isn't as impressive as her 60m and her 200m less impressive than her 100m. Her best 100m is 11.65, still excellent, but we're going to be signing Aaliyah Brown who has run 11.44. She's been running the 200m in ~25 seconds, Brown has ran 23.74.

She's running at altitude. I've seen estimates before that you can add about 0.05+ to the 60, 0.1+ to the 100m, 0.2+ to 200m, but of course, everyone's opinion seems to differ.

She's no doubt a great runner, and Oregon and TCU are great programs, and she'll do very well at either one. Perhaps, though, it was a money game and they were willing to throw more at her than A&M was.
