With the 4-0 win at Ole Miss, the Aggies clinch a share of the regular season championship. Florida and Georgia can also still claim a share with wins at Vanderbilt and at Alabama, respectively.

It is nice when the good guys win. I think that anybody who knows Mark would agree that he is salt of the earth. Haven't gotten to know Howard yet but I have heard nothing but great things about him as well.

Howard certainly has the eye for talent, no doubt about that, and tennis is certainly his game. One thing that may need improvement on his part is being educated as an Aggie. I heard one of the fans talking to him and it was mentioned something about the t-sips. Howard looked kinda funny and asked, "What does sipping tea have to do with the issue?" If that's his biggest problem and it appears it is, the athletic department needs to keep him as happy as Sumlin.

^^^^completely and utterly agree. Joffe is an absolute gem of a coach and I sincerely hope we can keep him for at least 5 years. I'm confident we could get a natl. championship in that time span if we keep this guy on board.

I agree that Joffe is awesome and I hope he is here for the long haul. If not, the powers at be should try to lure Todd Petty from TT. That guy and his assistant have turned TT into a national power in a short period of time. I have total respect for Weaver, but if you can turn TT into a powerhouse program there's no limit the success he could have in aggieland!

johnstafford - did not know that but yes that's true, if someone can make Tceh nationally relevant, they are definitely good coaches. See Knight and bball, and Leach and football as examples.

Say what you will, but Petty has taken a miserable program that was rarely inside the top 60 4 years ago and is on the verge of back to back big 12 championships. I know the big 12 and SEC are not even close in terms of strength, but its pretty impressive how they win. Zero blue chip recruits, only 1 ranked singles player, always win the doubles point, and scrap out matches throughout the lineup consistently.

Leach went 84-43 (.661) with a 5-4 bowl record at TECH. That is more than winning at Tech, that's winning big. Even as an overall record to other coaches, Leach did well at tceh, with a crap ton less talent than anyone else (save maybe k-state / iowa state).

Bob Knight took freaking TECH to the sweet sixteen in 2004-2005 and had an overall winning percentage of .627, back when the big12-2-2+2 actually had good overall basketball.

Again, at TECH, both these coaches did very well compared to just about every other coach in their history at that school.

Please, just please do at least a 5 minute google research project before spewing out ignorance next time Toad.

Not trying to take anybody's side here, but the men's tennis program at Tech has been top 20 for the most part for the last 15 years or so. Not trying to take anything away from Petty because he has done a good job. The last coach was an absolute joke and everybody knows it, so I don't think he should get any extra credit just because the previous was doing a horrible job. He has done well and he may or may not continue to do so. Not sure why this is a discussion on this forum because Joffe has no reason to leave. Think everyone is getting a little ahead of themselves.

Men's tennis at TT has been like a Brazilian Davis cup team for a while because of the connections with their assistant coach. The women are winning with primarily American girls that were mostly overlooked by big time programs. Which is even more impressive because anyone who has ever been to Lubbock would rather not have to go back much less play and live there! These Brazilian boys dont know the difference between Lubbock and Honolulu. So it's really not even close to the same thing. But your right, Joffe is our coach hopefully for a long time.

Women beat Auburn 4-0, but had to go to a 3rd set in the 4 remaining matches to do it. Stancu pulls out a 6-1 third set to clinch. Aggies were down in 2 of the other 3 matches.
