Breeja, Cammille, and McElhany swimming.

Cammille breezed to fastest time in prelims in 200 fly. McElhany scratched ????

Cammille wearing a (Swim) MAC cap, not an Aggie cap, even though she is entered as an AGS swimmer. I understand she is training this summer with Dave Marsh at Swim Mac. Is there another story?

No other story, just something a little different. Pretty evident she still loves all things A&M based on this:

Rumor is Caroline is sick... Second time this year and in Indy, coincidence? She had a shot of making the team if she swam and went her seed time. Cammile will be faster tonight and second is up for grabs if someone can go under the Fina A time.

Adams headed to Barcelona with a win in the 200 Fly.

Breeja smoked the field in 200 breaststroke prelims. She'll be swimming against Sogar for the win tonight. It is hard to tell if Sogar faded in the 2nd half of her race or she eased up. Breeja split 1:09/1:15 which is really, really good. Breeja's 1st 100 looked ridiculously easy.

Adams 200 fly looked OK, though she won. It looked like she pushed the front half a bit more than usual. She just didn't have the "pull away" 2nd half she usually does. I'm guessing she isn't really tapered. I hope she has a 2:05 in her for Barcelona.

Good interview with Cammile. Thanks for posting that link.

I don't have the proper words for how effortless Breeja's first 50 looked. It was the pure definition of easy speed.

Breeja's swim this morning is 7th fastest in the world this year. Just a half second to be 4th fastest. Another 0.4 to be 3rd fastest.

Great race by Camille - thought she was capable of faster, but that's not really the point of this meet.

Breeja looking to start doing damage in the 200 now as well, can't wait to see how that translates into her 100 - and if she does well there we'll see what she can do in a 50 at worlds!

Really thought Grevers would've been better in that 100 free, a nice swim for Feigen there. Gotta wonder if it would've been different if Ervin had paced it out better...

I agree about Grevers and Feigen. Surprised a bit that Berens wasn't faster. Cullen Jones was disappointing too. Maybe Grevers just didn't want it enough.

Dax was slow in the 200.

Missy is super-fast already. I'm not sure I have ever seen her "off." She is the female racer equivalent of Phelps and Lochte. Gets on the blocks and just races.

Go Breeja! I don't know much about swimming really, but she looked awesome to me.

Just for grins I looked up Larson's best Short Course Yards 200 prior to arriving at A&M. 2:22.42. Amazing.

Spice - Did you notice Beren's reaction time in the final?...
1.11

I don't know if that's maybe just a false reading off the pad or if something went wrong, but if that isn't the case a decent start would've got him 3rd, maybe 2nd.

He's considered a veteran by now - his start should be a whole lot better than that.

GREAT swim from Breeja last night, she's really showed remarkable patience in letting her 200 develop instead of forcing it- Something you would expect from a much more seasoned swimmer than her. Very impressed.

The RT for Berens has to be a timing system error. An RT of 1.11 is so slow it would have looked like he was left on the blocks. Watching the race he got off the blocks with the field and was even with Lochte at the first 25.

I didn't get to see Breeja's race till this morning (all the races are available on demand at the USA Swimming site). I think she split the 100 slower than she did in prelims, but came back faster. Really nice swim. I feel bad for Sogar. Her last 15M must have been painful. No way should should have been beaten by Lawrence.

Solid morning. Adams made A final in 4IM, McElhany is back and seeded #4 for 100Fly final, and Breeja cruised to the #2 seed in the 50 Breast behind a very fast time from Jessica Hardy. So that makes 5 events with Aggies swimming, and 5 appearances in the A final.

I'm glad McElhany is racing. I hope she is feeling better. I think 200 fly is a much better event for her in general, but 100 fly seems slow right now. She might get to Barcelona with a low 58 or high 57.

Adams can drop 10 secs tonight and not get to Barcelona. She lost 6 secs on breaststroke this morning. She had good closing speed on free, but she needs to seriously kill the middle of the race to have a chance.

Breeja looked good in the 50. Those of you who don't race breaststroke may not realize that the 50 breast is almost a completely different stroke from the 200. That Breeja is good at both is amazing. Hardy would finish at least 5 secs behind Breeja in the 200.

@SpicewoodAg - where are the swims on demand on the USA swimming site? I've been looking around and don't see it. Wanted to let my daughter watch Breeja's & Cammile's swims from the last two nights that she has been out of town.

http://usaswimming.takeitlive.tv/?p=678

they offer starts, TV cuts and race cuts. i would bet the race cut is what you're after.

this site is really convenient. a little more polish and it would be worth some money to me to have races on demand like this.

Apocolypticus put up the correct link. This is the first time I have seen this. It is really nice and they did a nice job. The videos are even HD.

Now if we can just get USA Swimming to list the results in first through eighth order instead of lane order.

Is it me, or was it a bit rude for them to bring Ryan Lochte in on the interview after the 100 Fly final? Only time that I've seen them bring in the 2nd place winner on the interview. Just because it's Lochte. Seemed disrespectful to Godsoe. Or maybe it's just me.

Caroline didn't look like she was pleased with her race this evening. Maybe she's still not feeling 100%?

Didn't see Cammile but I thought Breeja looked good.

What happened to A. Schmitt in the 400 free? She's not listed in the prelim results... Poor girl isn't having a great meet
halco87
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Schmitt scratched the 400. Just not on form.

Larson definitely cruised the prelims, but I expect a full throttle showdown with Hardy tonight.

I think Larson needs to be within 1/2 second at the 50. She will reel Hardy in. I think Hardy basically swam her best race in prelims. In the 100 free, Hardy went out faster in finals, but finished slower for an overall slower time. Larson will make her nervous tonight. So Hardy will go out slightly quicker, and fade the 2nd 50. Larson just needs to hang with her and overtake her on the 2nd half.

Or so my theory goes!

Breeja's race went perfectly......

Awesome swim by her (though I haven't seen it yet). She will be swimming three individual races in Barcelona plus the 4x100 medley relay.

She is now the fastest female breaststroker in the US, long or short course (except in 50 meters).

Spice - Just want to add that she's the fastest this year.

I don't want to rain on her parade, she's amazing at the moment- but I wouldn't discredit Hardy or Soni. They are after all the current WR holders in the 50, 100 & 200. And Soni's 200 time in particular wasn't even 12 months ago yet.

I would love to see Breeja get the 50 & 100 record SOON though. Not just because it's Breeja, but also because those have been standing for far too long now.
halco87
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's no doubt Soni if she returns, but Larson's versatility moves her past Hardy for me. Hardy's lifetime best textile 100 is 1:05.90 (just .02 faster), it's just a matter of time before Larson completely figures out the 50 and she's already right there with Hardy, and Larson's 200 is light years ahead. Regardless of the rank, it's tremendous company to be in and we still have no ahead what the ceiling is because she refuses to limit herself in any event.

who won what?
halco87
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Cammile Adams won the 200 Fly, Breeja Larson won the 100 and 200 Breast. Both qualified for the US Team going to Barcelona for World Championships next month. Larson will also get to swim the 50 Breast (if she chooses) and the 4x100 medley relay.
