So. Yeah. Larson's leg of the prelim 400 MR was apparently great according to this tweet:

@SwimmingWorld: W400MR Breeja Larson blitzes the field in breaststroke with 1:05.68 US in front 2:06.51 @SpeedoUSA #bcn2013 #swimming

And she followed that up a little later with one saying how great that swim felt. It's like she finally found her groove on the last two days of the meet. Hope it pays of for her in a medal place tonight in the 50.

And yeah, Sarah Henry. Great performance at US Open. So proud of her.

Breeja's leg was by far the fastest in the field and made up for some slow times by other swimmers on the relay. That time was about a second faster than her 100 earlier, without a crazy aggressive relay start. Nice job!

I will admit I have zero knowledge about what it takes to be a good swimmer, but I love watching the Aggie teams. They make me so proud.

Breeja's 50 breaststroke in finals was fantastic. Huge drop from semis. 4th place behind three current and/or past record holders.

They are the only 4 women in history to break 30 seconds. Pretty good company. She also ended up with the 3rd fastest relay split for the day behind just Efimova and Hardy.

Adams, Henry and Larson are gamers. When they line it up, you know you're getting full effort even if they may not have had their best stuff on a previous swim.

That is interesting. I'd like to see more data/analysis. I'd like to see a diagram of where the water intakes and outlets are. If true, the pool designers (Myrtha) have some serious explaining to do.

The old outdoor pool I used to swim in had water jets just beneath the surface in one lane. I hated that lane, because my stroke count would be -1 swimming away from the jet and +1 swimming into the jet.

The outside lane when set up for long course at Nitro has jets in a similar location. When you swim by them it pushes you sideways.

Read that when it came out.

I was under the impression that pumps got turned off during FINA competitions?
So the water was 'still' regardless and then turned on to circulate between sessions and overnight.

In some of the competitive pools I've worked at, I've noticed that quite a few of the jet outlets were placed really too low to have a significant impact. Specifically seems to happen at pools where the pump room is below (or next to, but still below the surface) of the pool.
