I know it is a VERY fringe spot, but I have been a fan of the America's Cup racing since the early 80's. The Kiwi's are schooling the American's and its not even close. Oracle thought by going to the big catamarans with the hug wing, they would have the advantage. However, New Zealand took the original design and greatly improved on it and are the best in the class. I enjoyed to old AC boats and watching those races, but these cats are FAST. Just wish the racing was better.

It is really fun to goto the park and watch the races. I watched two last Sunday. I'm leaving sheet the canceled races today. And I will be going back tomorrow. Plenty of eye candy on site.

I have waited to post until this was over. I honestly thought it would be over last week, but what an amazing job of never quitting. I know Larry Ellison said they went back and fixed the boat, but that was amazing. Over the first 8 wins by New Zealand, the Kiwis were much faster on the upwind legs. Don't know what Oracle "fixed" but over the last 8 races, Oracle just ran away with it on the upwind legs. To see a huge cat up on foils at 30 knots UPWIND is freaking crazy! Great win...just hope they didn't break any more rules this time and just outsailed the Kiwis over the last 8 races. I also hope Ellison realizes how much those cats cost and goes back to a conventional sailboat, or at least something that doesn't cost billions so there will be more boats in the race.
