I'm out at soccer tonight, so I didn't see this one in person but the A&M volleyball team picked up their second conference victory of the season tonight with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 victory over the visiting Mississippi State Bulldogs. With the victory, the team now sits at 10-6 overall and 2-3 in SEC play. The loss drops MSU to 9-8 overall and 0-3 in conference matches.
A&M won the first set decisively, but had to battle through the second to take the 2-0 advantage. In fact, the Bulldogs led for the majority of the set until A&M closed on a 5-1 run to win it. The third set was all A&M as they led from start to finish before pulling it out 25-16 to conclude the match.
Statistically, A&M registered 42 kills, 22 blocks and 39 assists on their way to victory.
While beating a struggling Mississippi State team was expected, the win allows Corbelli and her team to get back on the right track after losing a heartbreaker to LSU on Wednesday 3-2. Next up, the girls travel to take on Alabama next Friday night.
