It was an absolutely dominating performance for the Women of Texas A&M.
Going into the meet, the Aggies remained ranked #2 in the nation in the CSCAA Poll after last week's tie against Georgia and a win over SMU. They are the highest ranked team in the SEC with a 5-0-1 record.
The Ags took first and second overall in the first two events, and then first, second, and third in the third event, the 200 Freestyle. After that it was smooth sailing, as the Aggies took first place in 15 of 16 events.
Many of the races toward the end of the meet were exibitioned, or the results could have been much worse for the Cougars. On the last event, A&M's "D" relay actually won the event, but the top two scorers were awarded to the Cougars, as a result of all the exhibitions. On top of that, many swam in their off events, as Coach Bultman confirmed after the meet.
I talked with Sophomore distance swimmer Colleen Konetzke after the meet. When asked about the meet, Konetzke said "Steve [Bultman] was very pleased with how we got up and raced in the middle of the week and how we brought the energy."
When asked about who or what stood out to her this meet, she said, "Claire Brandt did especially well, winning two events. Some people swam off events so we had a lot of fun."
When all was said and done, the final score was 159-125 for the Aggie Women.
Next up for both the Men and Women is the final SEC dual meet of the season against the LSU Tigers down in Baton Rouge on Saturday, January 18th.
