Meet starts Tuesday afternoon with diving and swimming relays at night. What are your keys for both teams? We know who the studs are, but who else is ready to jump uup and stake their claim to an NCAA invitation. 5 days of awesome competition are on tap! Gig 'Em, Ags!

It should be a great meet. Who tapered fully for this meet vs. saving some for NCAAs, just one month away?

The A&M women's improvement in sprint free should be noticed in points. They'll score less in diving. Will they swim as fast as they did for the invite in November? Ibanez was on fire for that meet. I hope for Henry and McElhaney to be fully recovered.

Does anyone knows what happened to Romy Landeck?
Why is Diver Courtney Hattie not on the team? Is she injured?

Courtney Hattie is listed on the roster, and I saw her dive earlier in the season. If she is not competing at SECs - I'd guess injury. But I don't know anything about her status.

She did not dive 1M prelims today.

Courtney Hattie had the top score in the 3 m and 2nd highest score in 1 m among the Aggie divers leading up to the SEC championship. So it must be injury.
Did anyone know what happened to Zoe Alaniz today in the 1 m diving. She was leading the competition after three dives and then had a score of 0 on her 4th dive.

I read somewhere on twitter that Romy Landeck mentioned her retirement from swimming one month and a half ago. Not sure if this is true though.

Dive Meets results shows Zoe Alaniz 4th dive as a failed dive. Not sure what happened

Ford McLiney won the men’s 3-meter springboard dive.

A "failed dive" simply means the diver did not complete the dive. That dive was not a hugely difficult dive, so I will guess she had a bad hurdle (take off) from the board and simply couldn't do the dive correctly.

Zoe is a good diver. I hope she puts that out of mind and is ready for the 3M.

I watched the women's 200M medley online. We were beaten on the last leg. I looked at splits and Breeja had the fastest splits of the field. We needed a 21.5 free split. A bit surprised Paige didn't have the fastest 50 fly split.

Awesome swim by the ladies in the 800 free relay. It looks like Henry took 2nd away from Florida with her leg. Henry had the fastest A&M split. Based on the splits Ibanez is not fully tapered.

Guys swam well. The field is just damned fast. Men's 50 free should be a great race. Troskot doesn't look like he has low 19 flat start in him but he should be in the thick of it.

Simon Frank with a great IM for the A final. How about Antoine Marc going 1:47? Great future for him.

Great meet so far. The men have been terrific almost across the board. Looks like some of the top tier girls aren't tapered as much as usual which will bode really, really well for NCAA's. It's great to see so many school records falling so early in the meet.

What happened to Troskot's 50 free???? I would have guessed a 19.6 this morning.

Sammie Bosma is off her best in the 50. Not 100%?

Sarah Henry swimming fast. Cammille looks strong. 500 free should be a great race tonight. Nice 200 IM and 50 free swims by the ladies.

Troskot tweeted that it was an error on the back up timing system. Coaches had him at a 19.7. Glad he got a second swim to correct it.

They haven't yet updated the men's 50 free results. There was a 50 free time trial - but Troskot wasn't in it.

I meant "second swim" as his C final swim tonight to go faster. That 3-way tie for 16th was surprising.

Sammie Bosma was off this morning. Her split in the 200 Medley relay was 22.08. Probably if Caroline McElhany was in a faster heat she might have made the A' Finals. She swam probably the 3rd heat because of her 2.04 entry time and swam basically unchallenged. Hope she can do about last year's time of 1:55.97 tonight. Overall good times by the Aggies. Georgia is pretty strong so far.

If Troskot is in the C final he can't place higher than 17th, no matter what his time is. It does him or A&M no good to swim the C final. The timing for a meet like this involves three systems:

1. touchpads
2. backup pushbutton electronic
3. backup handheld stopwatches

There is nearly zero chance all three of these failed so badly that his time was captured as a 20.03.

Just reporting the tweet.

Maybe - and I hope for it - the final seeding for finals is being adjusted.

If the touchpads recorded a bad time, the head timer should cause the timing console operator to retrieve the backup electronic time. Normally the meet software flags any swim where the touchpads and the pushbutton time are 0.3 secs apart. If all electronic times are unusable, they go to the stopwatches. Good enough for seeding, but not for records.

C Final scores at the SEC meet, so it does matter whether he swims or not. He could gain up to 8 points moving from 24th to 17th.

OK - 17th is important. But this sounds like tweet or not that his prelims time was official. Three timing mechanisms could not have been that wrong.

Really nice day for the men. That 200 free relay was outstanding. Most impressed by Bolleter's split. Troskot obviously raced a lot better in finals than he did in prelims. His swims are all over the place. 20.3 in prelims. 19.5 leading off the relay. 19.7 in the 50 free C final.

The women had a good day. I was amazed by Dittmer's swim. Really strong 200 IM and great 50 free. She is the hammer for us right now in the 50. Breeja is quietly turning into a darn good 50 free swimmer (22.37). Slightly disappointed in the 200 free relay. We were slower than seed. Tennessee beat us by 0.11. Each of their girls was about 0.1 sec faster on their relay starts - which was the difference.

Paige Miller was DQ'd in the 200IM. Anyone know what happened?

Camille DQ'd in 400 IM. What happened? Page in 200 IM and now Camille in 400 IM. Big points being lost. We losing ground on Georgia

Simon Frank doing great work. 3:44! Duplechain also had a great swim. I would also like to know what the DQ was for.

Cammille was 2nd fastest at the 300. Home refs!

Georgia will win womens. Their depth in freestyle is too much. They have 4 women in the A final of 400 IM. That event alone will score a ton of points.

Bad calls from the same official today. She claims two swimmers made an extra dolphin kick off the wall in the breast stroke pull out in the 400 IM. They looked at video tape that showed no violation, but they could not overturn the DQ. There is no way you can see through all the bubbles and splashing to make that call conclusively. The gold medal winner in the Olympics even said that you can't enforce that rule without underwater video. Hopefully, it does not cost us second place.

Did anyone notice that all four girls in the 200 free relay had personal best times in the 50 free event and the anchor in the relay split a 21.5 and not one of those girls were shaved or rested. They will break the school record again this year in Minnesota in the relay. Dittmer missed the 50 free school record set by Trin by 0.05 seconds. Good luck ladies.

The technical record. The SRC staff cost Triin what should have been the actual school record (and an NCAA record at the time she swam it). I will never forgive them for that one.

Also, not being able to overturn a DQ with conclusive evidence to the contrary is complete and total bull****.
SpicewoodAg

That is BS. I agree with Ladybird - it didn't get called at the London Olympics because you can't see it. Bubbles, glare, turbulunce, make it impossible to see.

I can't even imagine Cammille trying that considering her breaststroke.

DQing people for the butterfly kicks in BR. Everyone does it, only a few don't get away with it.

It was a good day overall for both the men and women, though the DQ was stupid and hurts. Without the DQ the A&M women would likely be in 2nd instead of 3rd.

For today - the SEC is a great conference for women's breaststroke. 8 women under 1:00. Breeja fastest at 57.76. Sycerika popped a 59.6 - a huge drop for her. McGregor with a 59.55.

Can Breeja break her record tonight? My guess is she won't. She swam very fast in prelims and is surely not really tapered.

She will win though. Aggie women score big tonight.
