Apparently Florida is contesting the decision. If successful Texas A&M would be disqualified. No determination yet.

There is no way a reasonable person would call that a DQ with how borderline it was and what the result was.

There was no action by the Aggies that affected the outcome of the race. We caused no problems. We gained no advantages.

wow flashbacks to the men 4X400 disaster in the NCAA championship last year to force us into a tie instead of a flat out win.

This would be a brutal way to lose a meet.

Cannot understand the decision on this since Florida won the damn race and was completely unaffected. The only decision was if they were gonna let us win overall or not

I have a prediction for you Ags.

This will fire up the team, and at the NCAA championships we will win both the men's and women's 4x400.

When I was watching it at the track, I actually thought it should have been a DQ on the UF runner since I saw her arm go out like she was pushing but looking at the replay I saw Eutsey clip Ekpone but it's hard to tell if Ekpone made contact with her elbow first. To me Ekpone held her line and Eutsey forced her way through.

When I saw it live I thought Olivia cut in too soon. That being said, no advantage was gained in that race as UF won. But then I see why UF protested since a DQ would give them the trophy.
Did Olivia know the situation that we only needed to finish no more than 2 places behind UF?
If she had not been behind when she got the baton it never would have happened. I wonder why Kamaria was not part of the relay?
This should not take away from a lot of great performances that got the lead in the first place, including Olivia's in the 60 and 200.

If I recall correctly, the Aggies have never won an SEC track and field title, indoor or outdoor. This, despite all of their talent,

I am just a casual fan who started following A&M T&F since our first national championship in 2009. With my maroon glasses on, I think this should be a no-called like a block/charge in basketball. We were on our home track, and we are considered a track powerhouse. Shouldn't we get the benefit of a call like this? Would like to have the opinions of those who are close to the sport.

I feel bad for Ekpone, the team, and those invested. Never a dull moment in A&M T&F the last few years.

The DQ was a horrible call. If anything the Florida runner pushed off when there was incidental contact. Not unusual when the old guard of the SEC has a chance to knock down the new comer. Bad call SEC.

After all the divisional championship the aggies have some solid qualifiers for NCAA, however there are some on the bubble and may need a last chance meet to secure their places on the team. Below shows the amount of qualifiers in the top 16 as a 2/3/20014 for the top thre ranked women teams Oregon, A&M and Florida

Women A&M OR FL
60 m 3 2 1
200 m 3 2 3
400 m 3 1 2
800 m 0 1 0
Mile 0 0 1
3000 m 0 1 0
5000 m 0 0 0
60 H 0 1 1
4 x 400 1 1 1
DMR 0 1 1
High J 0 1 1
Pole V 0 0 0
Long J 1 1 1
Triple 1 0 1
Shot 0 0 0
Weight 1 0 1
Pent 1 0 1
Total 14 13 15

Notice Florida and Oregon depth in middle and long distance events and DMR. This is where aggies need to improve. Yes you have great sprinters but you need a couple of people who can give you some additional points in distance and field events and grooming a good DMR group

A&M women on the bubble or may be considered for a last chance meet
Ashley Collier 60m (20th just 0.01 seconds from top 16), 200m
Ibukun Mayungbe 400m (needs a 52.82 or better has run good splits on the relay)
LaQue Moen Davis long jump (16th place)
Jennifer Madu long Jump (need better than 6.25m, has a 6.10m)
Brittany Wooten Pole Vault (30th @4.12m need 4.25m or better)
Sierra Patrick High Jump (@ 1.78m, needs 1.82m or better)
Jena Hemann High Jump (needs 1.82 or better, PR 1.80 from Freshman year)

The other important point to note is that the Aggies actual leads the NCAA list in three events and others are in the top 8 with a good chance of scoring. It is important you go into NCAA with a good time or mark to get a good seeding for the prelims.

Below are the Aggie women current rankings in their events
60 m 6th, 6th, 13th,
200m 1st, 6th, 10th
400m 1st, 5th, 10th
4x400m 4th
Long Jump 16th
Triple Jump 4th
Weight 1st
Pentathlon 12th

Great opportunity to score 50 plus points. It all depends on Kamaria Brown and the other sprinters.

Bat61, the Women won the SEC Outdoor meet last May in their first appearance ever. They also finished 2nd in the NCAA Championships. This is a great program here and you should come watch them compete sometime.

This year there are no last chance qualifier meets. This is a change that I believe has the support of Coach Henry as you would see teams wait until the last minute and then go run a DMR at Notre Dame or a distance race in Seattle to qualify. I had to leave before the meet was over so I did not see the call first hand in the women's 4x4. It is unusual to see a call made like that but not unprecedented. I don't know all of the officials involved on the jury but I know a couple of them are folks close to Coach Henry who would act in an impartial way. I think it is unfortunate but I think to believe there is some ulterior motive with the SEC is also incorrect. That questions the integrity of those involved in former coaches who agree to be referees or on the jury of appeals. They are folks who take their job quite seriously and don't make decisions because of personal vendettas.

Bad call. Bad decision. It was ruled that way to give Florida the crown. Bottom line. Why would one Dq a runner for contact? Who pushed off? A runner is not allowed to push off due to incidental contact. In indoor meets there is always contact.

"It was ruled that way to give Florida the crown."

You are dead wrong to make that statement. I know all the individuals on the Protest Committee and they made the decision based on interpretation of the current rule book. All the rules are online. If you don't agree, petition to change the rule book but don't blame it on the ones who were tasked to make a tough call. The previous statement about home field advantage is also bogus. If that is the way things are done, A&M wouldn't get to host any more conference championships or National championship meets.
