For the record neither the women's or the men's schedule is up and won't be until after school starts. That's been the SOP for a number of years. Probably has something to do with some obscure NCAA rule.

I noticed that the Women's team has another transfer. Rachel Pierson ex Virginia player. Was ranked #5 for the class of 2013. She will be a Sophomore. Her bio. "Pierson finished the season ranked 76th nationally in singles, earning ITA Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year honors and All-ACC Third-Team accolades. She posted 31 overall wins during her inaugural singles campaign, tied for fifth-most at UVa. She posted 17 of those victories during the spring season, including seven against ranked opponents."

Womens team looks stacked again!!!

Mens team has picked up junior James Marsden a transfer from Tyler CC.

Martell is a solid player. Was a doubles guy in HS. Hopefully he will help in doubles a lot, and singles as well

Just looked up James Martell on tennisrecruiting and I am laughing my ass off that you actually think he will ever play for the team other than when they play the joker teams that don't even know what end of the racket to hold. Amazing the level of stupidity from some people.

Even if you do think it's stupid, Rick, the issue is that Junior has to be replaced, especially in doubles. James Martell was a member of the winning junior college pair in doubles. He would be at least one more option to try to combine with Jackson for doubles especially if they are not looking to split Szabo/ Efferding or Adams/Vinsant, which I assume they are not.

He will never play in any match that matters unless everyone on the team is injured

He will not play against any top 20 team unless they have several injuries. I will be more than happy to make a bet. I hope that I am wrong, because if I am that means that the team will be really bad this year. Then I can really have a good laugh!

How many top 20 teams do we play?

We would still play our top lineup against a top 50 team. When you say a match that matters, that would be just about any D1 match.

The only teams that "wouldn't count" would be UT Pan Am, ACU, Incarnate Word, Nichols, and UTSA. And that's only because they're the second match of a double header.

The team will be very good this year. I am sure that you all are shocked to hear me say that. That is one of the reasons why this guy will not play at all in any big match. I will not respond to anymore of the ridiculous arguments over Martell. Only time will show that he will be a non factor this season.

I would be surprised but not shocked to see Martell in the doubles lineup this spring. Marcus Lunt comes to mind who also came from TJC. Singles is a different story.

It's probably more likely that they will try A.J or Frankie Colunga,as Tito has transferred.

Pre season rankings out Adams 11, Vinsant 15, Efferding 46, Doubles. Adams / Vinsant 23, Withrow/ Catanzariti 25, Szabo/ Efferding 37.

Women are equally represented, 3 singles and 3 doubles teams all ranked, and all rankings are personal career highs. Ought to be a bucket load of whooping and hollering at Mitchell all season. The NCAAs are in Waco this year, it would be nice if a contingent Aggies could get to the round of 16's provided we get that far and Lord knows this ought to be a year EVERYBODY, men and women show up there.

I'll be in Waco for the NCAAs to watch the Ags. Yes. I'm optimistic.

Fighter there are actually four women in the national singles rankings. Should be a great year for both programs!

Fan, very good, my deepest apologies to Anna. There is certainly a MAJOR concentration of talent though in only three conferences, SEC, ACC and Pac 12. Everybody else just has a smattering of players sprinkled throughout the top 100. It'll be interesting to see if that concentration plays itself out through next May.

If the doubles for the women in Waco this past weekend is any indication of what to expect we ought to be going into singles in the spring up 1-0 the majority of the time, and two of our four ranked singles players didn't even go.

The ladies are doing all right out in California. Not fantastic, but pretty dog gone good. Mamalat and Bhosale bowed out in the second round of the pre-qualifying round, as reported on AggieAthletics. But Saska and Rachel (UVA transferee) are kicking some major butt though right now as both are in their third qualifying match to get into the main draw. Both ladies doing so in straight sets. In doubles their second match was against the #4 seed but no results have been posted yet. Come on Ladies bring home the bacon.

Freshman AJ Catanzariti has made it all the way to the main draw from the pre-qualies in Tulsa. He has won 7 straight matches.

Vinsant, Adams, Catanzariti in singles main draw and Szabo/Efferding, Catanzariti/Lunkin in doubles main draw.

Szabo/ Efferding into quarter finals of doubles. Catanzariti still going in consolation main draw singles. Vinsant out in 2nd round to Harris of OU.

The ladies do appear to be stacked again this year. At the ITAs the ladies were almost unstoppable until Saturday. Base that on the rankings/seedings. But doubles is where I was most impressed, up until Saturday our doubles recrod was 7 and 1. Only because Scarvino stacked the tables so we would have to maybe play ourselves in the quarters were we 8 and 2 after that. We end up being 10 and 2 among the three teams that played. If Saska and Eva had played it very well could have been better. But consider this, all three doubles are going to be awesome. Rachel and Inez have already proven themselves, Saska and Eva although didn't play because of Saska being down should be formidable based upon proven play by Saska and Eva showing some good talent, and Ratusa and Stephania make a good pair. Our biggest enemy is not the competition but injuries and health. If we stay healthy I don't think we'll lose a doubles point this year. Add to that our singles play we ought to be making a major run at a conference championship.

Very poor performance for the men largely based on the fact that nobody made a run in singles or doubles and also was played on their home courts.
