Harry, the ladies were doing pretty darn good up until quarters at Regionals. Rachel and Steph were the two biggest disappointments there. But Rachel ran into a buzz saw with the gal from cougar high, and Steph goes down with an injury playing a higher ranked opponent. S**t happens. If we stay on the court, our odds are pretty darn good looking at the level of play. Florida will be our biggest challenge again this year and we get them in our house. Looking at that section's regionals Alabama and Georgia still have some punch but nothing like last year, or the year before. I haven't seen any kool aid around, so I haven't been drinking anything. Why the dump since we didn't just breeze through?

D2 I happen to know the Coug High coach (he's an Aggie) and I know they have a good team, I just don't think Houston should ever have two in the semis and us have none. I guess it's just the preseason. I still have high hopes for this years team.

Pat at UH is a good dude. Happy that he's having some success. I doubt he's there much longer, his stock is high right now

Hopefully Jackson will be ready by January. Harry selected for national Indoors in New York .

One of the girls that was expected to play high on the women's team is no longer on the roster. Only eight on the team now with one of them being a walk on. The girls will need to stay healthy as they appear to be a little short handed this year.

Jackson has had a second surgery this week. Hopefully this will fix the problem before the season starts.

Lots of turnaround on the women's team. Sanchez and Stancu graduated, but lots of girls leaving and transferring before they graduate. Not necessarily a good thing.

Who has left early and why?

Klaudia Boczova is no longer on the website roster. She had a career high WTA ranking of 261 and ITF junior career high of 26. Pretty rare to see a collegiate player with that high of a professional ranking. One would think she would have been one of the top players in college. She did not compete in any of the fall tournaments so I assume she had some sort of an injury. Perhaps that is why she left.

Based on the linked article, it sounds like she might have found too much success over the summer. Maybe she dropped college tennis to pursue a pro career...

Maybe so but she hasn't played a tour event since early August.

I guess this forum should be thankful, we have one more thing we can be assured God has given us besides the sun coming up in the east and the only two things assured in life are death and taxes; that is SlickRick will always break his promise and have some idiotic comment about the tennis program. Since Howard has come on board we've had Jeannie Rasmus, Dane Vorster, and Klaudia Boczova have left the team before they completed their college career here at A&M either by graduation or use up their playing eligibility. Paula Deheza doesn't count because she had a career ending injury. As far as that goes, Jeannie was hurt during the NCAAs at Michigan so that may be her excuse as well for leaving. By and large these players leave for greener pastures for a myriad of reasons but the top three are most likely:

1. Getting cross wise with the coaches
2. Not getting enough playing time or not playing higher in the lineup in their opinion
3. Bad chemistry with the team

From my observation we haven't had that happen here, with either Howard or Bobby. Without fail every woman on the team will tell you the same thing about both Howard and Mark. Howard is a great coach, he just gets a little jumpy sometimes, and Mark is so even keeled he could calm a tsunami. So to make a statement like lots of players leaving or transferring is again just bogus asinine horse dip pucky. For what its worth, Klaudia was coming in as a 24 year old Junior . It would stand to reason with a ranking like she had, for Howard NOT to play her this fall could only mean either grades or serious injury. Since no coach would be foolish enough to waste a scholarship on an upper classmen with questionable academic ability it seems pretty far fetched so now you're down to injury. If we go with the medical red shirt her age restricts her to only one year of playing eligibility after laying out a year. It is probably smarter to hold that money back for a year so we can get a longer term commit next year. One last thing, if you haven't had the pleasure of watching Eva and Rachel play yet, it will be FUN FUN this spring to watch.

I am the guy that everybody loves to hate that is for sure. Call me Skip Bayless. Let's not forget Jana Mccord who transferred this year.

Still though, Baylor has had more girls transfer out in the last 2-3 than we have had in the last ten. The girls like Howard. A&M is not for everyone and working hard to crack the lineup on a top-10 team is not for everyone. I don't think it's an issue.

Just looked up James Martell on tennisrecruiting and I am laughing my ass off that you actually think he will ever play for the team other than when they play the joker teams that don't even know what end of the racket to hold. Amazing the level of stupidity from some people.

Harry, I'll bet you anything you like that he will not play in any important match in the spring. Good for him that he won this tournament and I have nothing against him. He looks like he is a nice guy from what I can tell. He beat players from irrelevant schools and it mentions that he won his flight which is code for not the top players in the tournament. I wish him well, but this proves nothing other than you guys dislike me because I call each of you out on all the ridiculous nonsense that is posted.

In the final he beat a guy that played 6 last year (and presumably higher this year) for USD, which is a top 25 team, so not exactly an "irrelevant school". I'm not running around saying Martell is the next All-American but on this weekends result alone it's pretty obvious he's good enough to in the play bottom of the lineup vs more than just Prarie View. I hope that we are deep enough that he does not play, but its nice to know we aren't going to lose a point there to Rice if he has to play 6.

The original statement was that he is a "solid player" and you ridiculed that. Just trying to help you call out some nonsense (You're welcome)
