A lot of Newcomers will be on the Aggie Roster this year. It would be an interesting year. This is how I see the team based on previous track roster postings.
400m, 400 hurdles, 4x400
On the men side this year with alot of newcomers in the 400m. Eric Age, Richard Rose, Fred Kerley (JUCO transfer), Bryce Deadmon and hurdlers Dewitt Thomas and Robert Grant and Junior Deon Hickey. None of these guys have run 45 plus. Three guys have run 46 plus, the other are 47 plus guys. Robert Grant is 51 plus in the 400m hurdles and the other hurdlers include Dewitt Thomas, Ilolo Izu and Tanner Moseley
The women seems interesting with
Jarra Owens (54+), Briyahna Desrosiers (53+), Marcquital Stalbert (53+) and the Hurdlers Shamier Little (51+ in 400m and 53+ in hurdles) and Ebony Crear (54+ in 400m). Shamier should again win the 400m hurdles
100m, 200m, 4x100m
On the men side Devon Jenkins, Elijah Morrow and Newcomers Reggie Garner, Aaron Simms, Edwards Davis and possibly footballer Jay Bradford. Senior Devin Jenkin should be the main guy to score for us. He had a 10.14 and 20.16 before transferring to A&M
On the women side there are lots of talented sprinters with Jennifer Madu, Aaliyah Brown, Krystal Sparling, Diamond Spauling, Brenessa Thompson, and soccer player Alleandra Watt and Glorilisha Carter (sprint and jumps). Expecting Senior Jennifer Madu and Aaliyah Brown to be the potential scorers
Middle Distance
On the men side there is Donavan Brazier, Efraim Hernandez, Hector Hernandez, Ian Cazares, Cameron Cardwell etc. Donavan Brazier is definitely a potential scorer
On the women side Katie Willard, Miah Nelson, Jazmine Fray, Kayla Denwood, Danielle Haas and Karina Buerk. Descent group of middle distance runner. Hope we can have a breakthrough year for a couple of them. To score you need to be running at about 2.03.00 in the 800m. If we can achieve this it would help us also in recruiting top 800m runners. So far the top 800m runners from Texas have again refused to come A&M but I feel this group can be the turning point in the 800m for us. Katie (2.07), Miah Nelson (2.12), Jazmine Fray (2.09)
High Jump
Freshman Alyssa Kallies (US 23rd) 5' 9 (1.75), Kara Erickson, Makenzie Smajstrla and Heather Gillin on the women side. Kara Erickson has not done well the past two seasons and this year I hope she and the others really come good.
On the men side Samuel McSwain and Garret Cragin
Long and Triple Jumps
On the men side twins Lathone and Latario CollieMinns, Jeffrey Prothro and possibly Jay Bradford will be main athletes in the jumps. We are counting on the twins to score in both jumps for us both indoors and outdoors
On the women side Jennifer Madu, Glorilisha Carter, baskeball player Anriel Howard and Andrea Nwachukwu.
Not sure if Laque MoenDavis is still at A&M
Pole Vault
This has become one of our better events
On the men side we have a very good group with Chase Wolfle, Audie Wyatt, Carl Johansson and freshman Jacob Wooten. All over 17', There is also Colin Padalecki (15' 9") only vaulting two seasons now. Also Kevin Skull and Marcus Orzabal based on last year;s roster. Plenty of potential scorers in the Pole Vault. All we need is consistency from them.
On the women side we have a solid group of Brittany Wooten, and the sophomores Sara-Kathryn Stevens and Emily Gunderson who have improved tremendously.
Throws
Great expectations from Shelbi Vaughn in her senior year in the Discuss and Freshman Celine Markert (US no. 13 in Discuss)
Very good Javelin throwers in Maggie Malone, Kristen Clark and Kendal Munoz.
Hammer throwers include Alison Ondrusek, Bailey Simmons and Cariissa van Beek
On the men side we have
Jeff Bartlett and freshman Brody Gowing in the Discuss and shot put
John Kyriazis and Sam Hardin in the Javelin. Possibly throwing is also multi athlete Lindon Victor
Austin Cook in the hammer
Distance
On the men side we have Austin Wells, Cameron Villarreal, Alex Riba together with the talented freshmen Eli Canal and Hendrix Logan and the rest of the cross country team.
On the women side, Karis Jochen is a potential scorer at SEC and hoping at NCAA. The others are Kelsie Warren (if fit and not red-shirting), Arin Rice and the rest of the cross country team
We interesting team make up this year with a lot of newcomers. What is important is that the coaches have recruited several athletes in every event which would help build some of our weaker events. Also we have a lot of sprinters so we can have separate 4x100 and 4x400 relays which would reduce some people doubling relays and in their respective events. This is a good move with the new format of the NCAA outdoor meet with all finals being run on one day for men and another day for the women.
If anyone knows about any other transfers in or out for 2015-2016 please post.
Thanks
