How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
My daughter has recently started participating in the sport and I would like to take her to the event on Nov 22nd. I know nothing about it and hope I can getsome information.
- I assume these events are open to the public
- Ticket costs
- How long are these events
- Anything else we should know? Anything to do before for a young girl (7years old)?
Thanks for your help.

I went to a few last year with my granddaughter, who was 8 at the time.
Last year they were at Brazos County, this year A&M has its own facility, so make sure you know where you are going. It was free to get in, so I assume that is unchanged. Its indoors but open air, so have some extra layers and maybe a few blankets in your vehicle, because if its cold outside, it will be cold inside the arenas.
Last year they were selling some food(chicken strips and such) but I don't know about the new one. Look for a poster on this board named Rangelady, she has a daughter on the team, and is a great source of info.

Events are open to the public and free. The shows last 5-6 hours usually with fences going right at the beginning. The English and western competitions happen in different areas, sometimes simultaneously. There is a lot of down time between events so bring things to keep you busy if you plan on staying the whole time. There is a concession stand but you can bring food in too. Bundle up if it's cold.

Howdy!

The events are free. Not sure of starting time for Nov 22. Look on webpag...

Plan on 3-4 hours. Fences will be first, then horsemanship and equitation on the flat will run concurrently, and reining will be last.

Sometimes there are activities before for kids. I can ask and see if anything is planned.

The horses are warmed up for 30 minutes, then the point riders for each team get 4 min of warm up. Competition is head to head on a drawn horse. Anyone in the stands can explain the format.

Come on out and cheer on the Ags!

Be sure to grab someone to explain the format! Get a score sheet and we will make sure you are in the know! It is fun, but confusing if you have no idea what is going on.

If we can figure out which one is reining and horsemanship we'll be sure to give an extra cheer. Thank you for all your input.

Grab a scoresheet, then ask someone to explain format. Scoresheet shows who is riding in all the events.

Thanks. We were there and had a great time. We will definitely be back. We did leave just a touch early, but not before Miss Rangelady Jr. finished her rides.
