Does anyone know if it is possible to walk on to the track team? Do they hold any form of tryouts?

Thanks

it's definitely possible, you'd have to contact the coaches about trying out. it'll probably involve competing unattached at some meets. unless you're really good at an event a&m happens to be weak at then it's going to be really difficult to make the travel team

Yep, it's possible. Like redd said, if the event was one of their weak events then it's easier. Another thing to consider is gender. Walkons count towards the athlete participation count for Title IX so it's probably harder for a guy to walkon than a girl.

I used to have a copy of the A&M walkon standards but there's a copy of the FSU track standards out there and those times should be similar to A&M's; the times aren't always set in stone - they're just a helpful guideline. As redd said, email the coaches and fill out the prospective student athlete questionnaire on the Aggie Athletics website.

I'm almost fast enough to qualify as a female 5K scholarship runner at FSU.

I'm a dude in real life.

They must have a TON of walk on men's high jumpers if you only have to clear 8 inches.

The two top finishers at the last indoor meet (4:00.xx and 4:01) are walk-ons.
