The men's tennis team is the number two seed at the National indoors Tournament in Charlottesville. I am sure that's the highest seed we have ever had. Virginia is the one seed. Open up with Columbia the 15 seed on Friday.

Ags defeat Columbia 4-2. Last two matches were in their third set. UCLA next tomorrow at 11 am. Live video feed is great.

I think they can win it all this year

We have a good chance to win it all this year.

We will play some top teams in this Indoor tournament. This should give us some indication how we might fare later on.

I was hoping our guys could get the win today against UCLA, but it looked like it was a great match. It seemed like we had all the momentum with Arthur roaring back to force a tie break in the 2nd set and Shane up 3-0 in the 3rd. UCLA just slammed the door.. I hope we finish strong and get on another roll. We have to get indoor facilities if we ever plan on winning this event and competing with these top programs this time of year.

I don't know that having indoors has anything to do with the loss to ucla. They have ZERO indoors in LA. The only time they have played indoors this year has been last week in a 6-1 loss to UVA on the road.

Our guys are still in good shape for the spring. We have a good team that has been playing well. They will bounce back just fine

I Never said losing this particular match had anything to do with our Iack of indoor courts. I do think that with the amount of success our tennis programs have had in the recent years coupled with the difficult schedule we play including this indoor tournament(that we qualify for almost every year) it would be very beneficial to our men and women to have indoor facilities. I also feel they have more than earned it! Do you disagree that having an indoor facility would help our success playing indoors?

I definitely agree that having indoors would be beneficial. On a side note, I find it funny that you qualify for national indoors, on outdoor courts. Just a funny observation.

Yes, the athletic department needs to make indoors happen. And soon.

But I won't be holding my breath for it. I have heard rumors of a new facility, which includes indoors, being in the works. Not sure how much truth there is to that, but it would be great.

I think this team is a little overrated right now. I think a top ten finish would be a good year for this group.

Ags lose a really close one to Ohio state 4-3. This is a great example of why we need indoor facilities.

They won't be the favorite but they certainly could win it all this year if everyone plays up to their full potential. We are not going to lose to Ohio State on a slow hot outdoor court in May.

How many returning All-Americans do we have on this team anyway? Go ahead and add Arthur to that list at the end of this year.

Why would anybody really think this team could win it all? There have been much better lineups in years past and Denton has never even come close to winning it all. Here are the actual ncaa tournament results in his years. 1 first round loss. 6 second round losses. 2 sweet sixteen losses. And 1 elite eight loss. That averages out to mediocre second round appearances over a 10 year period. Pretty average at best.

Fortunately for the men, their past performance does not determine their future performances.

I do think its fair and relevant to bring up past disappointments with the same coaching staff. Like I said I wouldnt call them favorites to win it all by any stretch but they are a legit top 10 team and if they heat up in May they have a chance.

I don't think the top of the lineup is strong enough to be a legitimate title threat.

So far in the season, I agree with this. Still early and it is indoors. Lets see what the guys can do outdoors. Looks like we play OSU again at their place this week. I assume this will be another indoors match?

Myself and Kevin Hurley, who is on my staff and is in charge of buildings and capital, have had that conversation and it is a priority for us. When (it will happen) I cannot say because I don't know yet, being three weeks into the job. It is something we're looking at and I think it is something we have a good chance of doing in the near future."
