Whoa! Hope this is doesn't happen! Editor Garry Hill of Track and Field News posted this about Donovan Brazier after his electrifying race Friday night. Post-meet schmoozing at the Wild Duck (well, once Warriors/Cavs was done) yielded a majoritynot necessarily correct!opinion that before he leaves Eugene he'll be a full-blown pro.
I was in Eugene and the Aggie wins were the highlights for me. It was really great to see Maggie and Audrey Malone celebrate each others big throws. That was a clutch throw in the 3rd round for Audrey just to get 3 more attempts and another one in round 6 to get 3rd place. Kyriazis thought he had won the competition on his last throw in the javelin. The men's pole vaulters were a big disappointment and I bet Pat Henry thought that someone would score. But the best one didn't even make it to Eugene.Devin Jenkins was "disappointed" he didn't get the baton in 4X100 as it was his only chance to run after being injured for regionals. Never thought Shelbi Vaughan would finish 6th. Braziers win and Shamier Little's win were amazing to see. Brazier had not run that good since January. I wonder if Shamier will want to come back and be a 4 time champion. I was hoping the women could hold on to that 4th place trophy. In the 4x400 Southern California could have passed us but dropped the baton and tu needed to win for us to keep it, and it looked good till the last 100 meters. Because of the extra stands put in for the trials, they moved the award ceremonies to the field just behind the west stands. It was a good idea but none of the local fans stayed for the awards ceremonies so the only people there were the teams getting awards.
