Aguilar and Smith won their doubles match. I was surprised to see they played a tie-breaker instead of a 3rd set. I didn't see how many points the tie-breaker was.

I believe it was 7 points. I read they were down 5-2 and then won 5 in a row to win the match. 2 top 10 ranked teams going at it in the 1st round.

Hady loses 4 & 5.

Looks like doubles plays a tie-breaker instead of a 3rd set. Aguilar and Smith won the tie-breaker yesterday 10-8 and lost 14-12 today. In another match the tie-breaker was 10-6 so it looks like it' and 18 point tie-breaker, and you have to win by 2. Could not find anything online about the rules. And the NCAA.com website and the ustanationalcampus.com website are terrible when you try to find out what is going on in the tournament.

It's the 10 point Coman Tiebreaker. Takes place of a full set. USTA leagues has been doing this for years.

When did the format change? Seems like they should just play a 3rd set.
