I'm looking for some analysis that is beyond my knowledge of volleyball.
When I look at the overall size of our ladies, we appear to be on the small side. I think UF had three ladies over 6'4", and other good teams we've played had at least several women significantly taller than ours. Yet, we seem to be able to block and spike well, holding our own against teams that are apparently physically superior.
It appears to me that Coach Kuhn has one exceptionally good player: Hollan Hans, and two other really good players in setter Camille Conner and libro Camilla Gomez. Without disparaging our team, the other players are role players who right now are performing really well.
I think Hans really is an exceptional player; I've never seen any college woman hit a ball consistently harder. But you'd think with her stats, other good teams would be able to defend her more consistently. Right now, they don't appear to be able to do that.
So for you experts, how are we doing it? The whole seems to be more than the sum of its parts. Help me out?
