Your new #1, Baylor. CRAZY!!!

Baylor is freakin good this season and likely has the player of the year in Pressey if they go far in the NCAA

It goes
1. Baylor
2. t.u.
3. Rice
4. TAMU

currently in the state IMO until at least Baylor and t.u. play each other

Led Missouri 2 sets to zero today winning easily 25-16 and 25-17.

Lost in 5 sets. This has become a nasty pattern.

This team could/should be 4-0 in SEC play.

Tough match to lose when we played so well in first two sets.

Must have been out of substitution in 4 th because we had Davis and Rush serving and in back row in crunch time.

Our back row did not return serve very well and way too many service errors.

Another match where we outscored our opponents and lost. Both during SEC play on the road. Dominated the first two sets and had two match points in the fourth and unable to capitalize.

We could be 4-0 if we can finish and this is the second time we have dominated the first two sets only to lose a match to a top 25 team.
The good news is this is a loss that won't hurt RPI at all and Rush on the RS had a coming out party so to speak which in the long run will be way more beneficial

The team has a reputation for folding that has been solidly earned during the prior and current seasons.

Our RPI is 27, which is 4th amongst SEC schools.

RPI Futures has us at 15 which takes into consideration all matches before and the rest of the conference schedule. It has us expected to be 21-7 which I think is probably one or two games to high with us not being able to finish sets and matches like a top 25 team should.
Rush had a solid weekend and that is the production we have been needing from the right side. You can see why she is the #11 recruit from her class based solely on potential. Lauren Davis slid back a little in production over the weekend compared to her last month on the outside. We have to beat a Missouri Tennessee Kentucky or Florida and we have had two solid opportunities to do so but missed out on the road

Just defeated SC 3 - 0. We won the first two sets easily, with SC getting just 15 and 17 points, I believe. But we set up another nightmare for ourselves in set 3 letting a 24 - 22 lead go to 24 - 25 SC. We then battled back and forth before winning 33 - 31. Given our difficulty in finishing matches, it was good to put them away in three sets.

Good win at home, beating another formerly 2 - 2 SEC team.

And once again vs Florida. Lost 1st 2 sets then destroyed them in sets 3 and 4. In the 5th up 9-3 and finds a way to lose 15-12.

Unthinkable. How do you lose a match where you are up 9-3 in the 5th set?

Answer: by losing 9 points in a row.

Enormous post-season implications from the end of that match today.

A&M has to learn how to close out matches against good opponents. That's part of building an elite program. This is a big season for Kuhn and for recruiting. Demoralizing choke job today against Florida in the 5th set.

Unreal to think that this team should probably be undefeated in conference play.

No words for me right now other than we could easily be undefeated for the season

It has already been said that we had a 9-3 lead in the 5th set and then lost by giving up a 9-0 run but you can't do that at home especially and against a team that would give you a much needed significant win.

We WON EVERY STATISTICAL CATAGORY you could possibly have in volleyball. Blocks kills digs assists aces hitting percentage, less attack errors less service errors

The SEC basically has now 9 teams at the top and four at the bottom IMO.
Games that were easier wins aren't that way this season so we have give up way too many opportunities and Ole Miss and Georgia who we're likely wins are winning those same matches against the other 8 top teams. And only 4 more matches against those bottom four. This coming week we have Miss State and Ole Miss who is currently leading the conference right now. And if we don't win a few of these top conference matches we won't make the post season again IMO and that is sad because if we could just FINISH we could even be undefeated for the season possibly. This has been the Hollan Hans show for two weeks now and we gotta have more production in crunch time from other positions in lineup because the opponent will focus on Hans at crunch time

Florida went on that 9-0 run right after we won a challenge. On Friday we had to go through about 7 match points before finally winning. Really an unbelievable collapse. Hope they can get themselves together.

Our RPI went up 1 spot to 26, so it is looking good so far to make the NCAA Tournament. Would be nice to get a signature win in conference.

Great win, Ladies. Way to gut it out and snatch the match away from Ole Miss.

This marked the beginning of a four game stretch against teams ahead of us in the SEC standings: Ole Miss today, Georgia, Kentucky, and Missouri. Two of the remaining three are at home. Winning at least two of those games would really set us up for an NCAA bid, I would guess.

The team seems to be getting themselves to that evasive next level. They've really played well. Let's hope they can carry on their good play to the remainder of the conference schedule.

I'm looking for some analysis that is beyond my knowledge of volleyball.

When I look at the overall size of our ladies, we appear to be on the small side. I think UF had three ladies over 6'4", and other good teams we've played had at least several women significantly taller than ours. Yet, we seem to be able to block and spike well, holding our own against teams that are apparently physically superior.

It appears to me that Coach Kuhn has one exceptionally good player: Hollan Hans, and two other really good players in setter Camille Conner and libro Camilla Gomez. Without disparaging our team, the other players are role players who right now are performing really well.

I think Hans really is an exceptional player; I've never seen any college woman hit a ball consistently harder. But you'd think with her stats, other good teams would be able to defend her more consistently. Right now, they don't appear to be able to do that.

So for you experts, how are we doing it? The whole seems to be more than the sum of its parts. Help me out?

We are not a short team. But compared to Florida maybe so. We are
OH 6'1
OH 6'4
Mid 6'3
Mid 6'4
RS 6'1
Set 6'1
By no means short at all. That said we have relied on Hans for past two weeks especially as she has responded well. The problem has been the end game and finishing while getting production offensively from someone other than Hans in the pins. If two of the three pins play well and middle do what they have been doing all year we are in good shape to compete with any opponent we have on our schedule.
If only Hans is performaing on the pins then the passes have to be there
End game we have to finish which honestly we finally did Sunday.
You said it best Colorado when you talked about our next four plus the Ole Miss game. We have given three conference matches away and the next couple of games are going to define our conference season IMO. after that we have three easily winnable games regardless of home or road
2-1 in next three likely gives us a 8 out of ten wins and RPI will improve in next three and not drop significantly with the weaker teams after the next three

Coach Bird is known as a solid recruiter with huge connections in Texas which should be very important for coming years. Pretty much the roster we have now is on the previous staff with the exception of Rush on the RS and Gomez as libero, two great pick ups with Rush being a high ceiling player. We lost the recruit Wannas who decmintted last season and is a top five recruit but that may have much more to do with Stanford coming calling then anything about changes to TAMU program.
We will have to replace a six rotation OH who has attacked from all over the court tremendously well in the last few matches. And a new libero unless another year of eligibility is available which is doubtful for Gomez. We have three middles that can get the job done and a fourth right side/middle I love off the bench in spurts and emotional pickup.
Not to look ahead but if we don't find a six rotation outside at attack from back row and front we will likely drop off a bit next year although both Rush and Lauren Davis could pick up the slack at the pins but need that back row option to compete especially when out of system
