Morrison does some things more aligned with international volleyball than they way things are typically done in US Volleyball. There is an intention to prepare the girls for pro international volleyball. Hopefully, that will help attracting prospects.

That said, I don't know how significant the differences actually are. Morrison specifically mentioned how they refer to rotations, which should be easy to adapt to. But it at least creates a recruiting pitch.

Texas has never lost a first round match, they are 35-0 all time...

Saw a couple interesting girls in the transfer portal. No inside information on my part but was just browsing and they caught my eye.

6'3" OH Emma Ammerman out of Pepperdine (younger sister of Sarah Ammerman)

6'1" OH Skylar George out of University of Utah but played for Houston Skyline.

To look back at the season and the youth of the team we put on the court you can help but be pleased with the overall season. The last few matches were not good but outside of an unexplicatble loss to Bama nothing really is a shock other than this team should not have lost 9 of last 11 to finish the season.

We had 13 losses for the season. All of those teams made the NCAA sans Bama which i am still trying to understand.

In those other 12 losses,

2 lost in the first round (Auburn and Georgia)
4 lost in the second round (Florida in huge 5 setter, Missouri and Houston to 1 seeds and TCU who lost to another team that beat us
4 others are in the Sweet 16 with at least 2 going to Elite 8 as Texas plays Tennessee next round as well as Arkansas vs Kentucky


as for going forward, I have no idea who will stay or go from the current roster but we will have at least one scholarship to give out for Meuth. Everyone else can stay although I dont think all will. If they all stay that scholrship has to go to a OH1 who can pass out of transfer portal. At least two DS are necessary preferabily that can serve pass at a high level. Others have mentioned a setter and while I understand that I am fine for 2024 with the same two. We were a top blocking team who will only get better at that IMO. The RB defense of the two setters is lacking but if we go to a 5-1 do you have Lednicky play 6 rotations because her back row defense last season wasnt any better than the two setters this year I dont think. I think that spring and next season we get better at the phases of the game that we need to do...passing, ball control and running the middle more which opens up the pins. We got blocked in runs of points by various players because the block was camped out and rather than finding high hands or seeing the seam or doing something off speed we tried too often to swing as hard as we could. The middle holding their middle because we set the middle more will help find those seams and it will be the job of the hitter to see it as well which I dont think we did at certain points in the season and caused us to lose leads or make the set out of reach and we dont play well from behind. I am excited about next season while being frustrated how the end of this season went

I think we're recruiting an honorable mention all Pac12 OH from Colorado. It's obvious we're already active in the transfer department. Looking forward to see who we pull in!

Keep in mind she was recruited by and committed to the previous staff. I'm sure it was a big difference in what she was expecting when she showed up. I believe she was also an early enrollee so that may have made it hard when the coaching change happened right before she arrived to campus. She really didn't have much choice at that point.

Sad to see her go. Doesn't sound like she's just testing the portal waters. She had the most growth out of all players.

She was a Bird recruit and probably didn't mesh with the new group. Best of luck to her.

Brianna passed a 1.94 for the season according to someone who has all the stats. I think that is a bit low for what you want but I can see improvement over the course of her next few years. She was targeted the most in the season in all the detailed box scores i had once Hogan was no longer libero on the court. I think she will go quite well if she finds the right program, if she tries for a top 16 program I dont think she will be much more than a role player initally

I wishe her best of luck and hope the landing spot she finds helps develop her, she made strides during the season at certain points and would have been the heir apparent to OH1 on the roster depending on who came into the program

I knew the previous coach at Cy Ranch. In a convo she alluded to too much to deal with to continue with program

The math does add up. Think that this is addition by subtraction, even though she put up a great freshmen year. But you could sense something wasn't right with this team.

It was a joke that skyline is the preferred club for obvious reasons and she came from HJV, hence maybe why it wasnt a fit.

I dont know her from Adam, I saw her play at HJV and knew she was good. Just was an odd fit to me from the get go considering I also saw her Dad star for Texas basketball back in the day.
