Just went back and watched the replay. It wasn't egregious enough to warrant a penalty in OT, IMO. The stick contact was very minor.
But in reality, Wyatt got his stick parallel with the ice and made contact with Draisaitl's hands so it probably is a penalty.

We're using an umbrella style this season, instead of the traditional 2 point men and 3 down low. So we have the one guy up top, 2 down low and 2 along the half wall. This all is known.
What I see happening is: Too often, both of the guys along the half wall converge on the net. I don't know if it's by design to be that agressive, but both guys shouldn't crash that deep. Sure, it may pay off on occasion, but if the puck squirts free, you only have 1 guy back to defend. It's what happened today and has been what's happened on most of these odd man rushes.
One of the half wall guys should be hanging back no deeper than the faceoff circle. You see it at times, where a guy like Roope will circle back and appear to be playing the point with Miro for a moment. It's not as agressive, but it doesn't result in as many rushes the other way.
Stars recall Matej Blumel and put Evgenii Dadonov on the LTIR.

While Stankoven and Bourque received a ton of accolades, Blumel was also an all-star and has NHL experience.
What happened with Dadonov
Blumel has also had a tremendous season. I do wonder why him over the other two though. Could it be cap related for some reason? Could it be that they don't want to call the other two up and hurt potential trade value? Or is it just simply a fit thing?

That call on Johnston will not be made on playoffs . Injuries are starting to pile up ….. but if we can get through this 10 game stretch with 11 or 12 points , we should be ok ( 1-0-1 for 3 points so far ).

Looks like Hakanpaa is out. Either Petrovic or Pouliot will play tonight.
I guess the plan was not to play Blumel at all, it was a salary game. You have to spend as close to the cap as possible to maximize Dadonov's LTIR.
So Blumel, making more than Stankoven or Bourque, made the most sense. LTIR rules are stupid.
I would assume it'll be Petrovic. He's an all around "solid" defenseman, but yes we are playing the salary cap game now.

An incredibly stupid and shortsighted decision. He would 100% have been called up and played games with the Stars by now.

The only good news right now is that we are deep with prospects that can come in and should fill in without missing to much of a beat.
