They need a home stand in a major way.

Stars need a #1 or #2 seed in the division, but the problem is there's 3 good teams fighting over it.

A #4 seed or #3 seed in the division means we would most likely have to win 2 series in a row against Winnipeg and Colorado with no home field advantage.

I think as long as we're one of the top four teams in the conference then we're fine. You're not going to avoid good teams in the West, so I'm not going to really get caught up in trying to win the division or win the conference just for seeding purposes.

The Stars need to use some of the cushion they've accrued to figure out what the hell is going on, what guys they want on the big squad (including trades), and what mix of the guys they need to go with to get the most out of them going into the playoffs.

Seeing 2nd rounder, conditional 3rd rounder, and Grushnikov as the package. Regardless of salary retained, have to be pretty happy with that.

We can always count on Nill to go for it. I am curious what they are going to do about Lundquist as he was playing pretty well before his concussion.

I don't think Jim Nill is done. They've said before that they are sticking with Nils, so I would imagine Hakanpaa becomes pretty expendable. We could see some more wild stuff though.

With Calgary and NJ retaining 75% of Tanev's salary and not giving up any roster players, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see another move.

Then again, I could see Nill wanting to take 8 defenders to the playoffs.

BUT, he mentioned Bichsel on the Hardline yesterday and I saw something else that said they expect him back in Texas by the end of March.

This was a move that absolutely had to be made. We may even need to add another defenseman.

Now call Bourque up. I want to see a Wyatt, Stanky, Mav line. Team needs some juice!

Makes sense. There's no reason for a Ty Dellandrea to be on this roster with Stankoven already lighting things up. Sean Walker would be out of this world, but I think they'll at least try to get another depth d-man and unload some guys/salary in the process.

As a Canucks fan I am jealous of that deal. Tanev is a good D man and the Stars front office did great work on the terms.
