Adu in the All-Star game?

Seems most of the soccer talk is restricted to Europe and A&M (for good reason) but let's see how a domestic soccer story flies...

Apparently Freddy Adu will make the All-Star team as a "commisioner's pick". Does anybody else think this is a joke? I mean I think the kid will be great but there is no way he deserves to be on an All-Star team. I mean he has exactly two goals and is on the short end of a platoon with Eskandarian. I know MLS has a lot invested in the kid but this borders on scandolous.

Adu IS MLS right now. If he's not there not many will watch. Hes already totally changed soccer in America for the better, and they had to pick him because him scoring will be the only way they make sportscenter.

Eskandarian should be an all-star. Why not hire Michael Jordan for a game or two - make HIM an all-star. But if it takes Adu to attract watchers - so be it.

It may be good for the MLS but it is not good for his soccer development. His professional development would have been much better served playing youth and reserve side matches for one of the large European clubs (Man U, Real, Ajax)
