Bryce McCray wins his 400 hurdle heat, Kirk Collins gets a huge PB of 50.81! He has a small q right now! 2 more heats to go, hopefully Jaqualon Scott advances as well

Jaqualon Scott advances! 3 in the 400, 800, and now 400 hurdles!! Hopefully they do some damage on Friday! We need at least 10 of them to advance!

Sucks to see 11/24 and 13/24 athletes from Texas colleges advance to the quarterfinals and we couldn't even get one to qualify to this meet
16 vaulters over 17'5 with one skipping it to the next height! Jack Mann III is currently sitting in 7th! I think that goes through, but we need 4 people behind him to miss the next height of 17'9.25! Or for him to make it over lol

I was worrisome after he missed two attempts at his opening height, and frankly that was the difference! You have to be nearly perfect on your craft in a meet like this!
To wrap us yesterday, we did see some unfortunate close misses in a few events, but overall we had a great day! We had Sam Hankins punch a ticket to Eugene in the men's javelin on his final attempt!
Running wise, we had two athletes advance in the 110 hurdles, Connor Schulman and Jaqualon Scott who both won their heats! We had Cooper Cawthra PR and advance in the 1500! We had our 800 trio of Sam Whitmarsh, Kimar Farquharson, and Caden Norris all advance! In the 400 hurdles, Bryce McCray, Jaqualon Scott, and Kirk Collins all advance as well! So we'll have a solid group competing Friday! As well as Victor Kibiego in the steeple, Eric Casarez in the 5000, and a few more field eventers! It's not always the top 12 that advance in running! For races 1500 and under, it's top 3 in each of the 3 heats and the next 3 fastest times!

I love the Heat assignments for the 110 hurdles, I believe both will advance! In the 400, Jevon O'Bryant May need to run near his PR but him and Robinson should advance! In the 400 hurdles all our guys got out together in the same heat again 
but it might be the slowest heat! McCray and Scott should be through, I'm hoping Collins PR's again! Kibiego should easily be through in the steeple if he's healthy! And Casarez has a chance but will need to run the best race of his life! Our 4x400 is in lane 6! They should be pushed by USC and Texas but should win the heat!

Today everything will be a little earlier! We kick things off with the javelin at 12:30, however our 3 ladies won't compete until closer to 2/2:30 since they're in the last flight! All 3 are ranked in a position to advance! McKenzie Fairchild will be in her first regional so we'll see how she adapts! There is a strong group from Nebraska who will push our girls and a couple from TCU as well! Lianna Davidson is ranked 3 in the country and Katelyn Fairchild is ranked 6, numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5 are in the west as well! So it'll be tight!
And on the east side, Florida had themselves a very solid day yesterday they advanced 4 in field events and had their runners do well in qualifying! Alabama didn't have the best day in the field events, but had their top runners do well and advanced 2 in the 10000! LSU had 3 field eventers advance!

One of the nations best 800 runners, 3rd ranked Tyrese Reid of Miss State didn't advance in the 800! If we're gonna make a push at nationals a lot of will start with that race! So good for us!
Our jav girls should begin soon! In all my years watching track I don't think I've seen a more lopsided regional than the girls javelin this year in the west! Out of the top 15 in the country, 13 are from the west, the women's long jump is in a similar boat
Lianna Davidson with a huge first throw of 186'7 or 56.89 meters and that should easily get her to Eugene!
Katelyn Fairchild is currently in 12th with one attempt remaining

Jaiya Covington runs a 12.96 for 9TH in the 100 hurdles, which is bizarre to place that low with a time like that in a prelim! But she advances to Saturday's quarterfinal
We had little room for error to compete with Arkansas and Florida, but without Fairchild at nationals, we will be set back even further making a championship unlikely
Women's pole vault and women's long jump kicking things off as well
Heather Abadie skips the first height, Sevanna Hanson clears 12'5 on her first attempt, Riley Floerke misses all her attempts, she was a 13'9 vaulter in high school 5 years ago
We saw yesterday how important your misses are, so we need Hanson and Abadie to limit them!
