Wow if this is true then the Avs front office is certifiably r*****ed. Over $400k???? Mikko is the definition of "And I took that personally"

Because I feel like the playoffs are hype enough to warrant a thread seperate from the 100+ page one that's been going since August. Happy to be proven wrong I just want to talk stars hockey don't really care where it happens

But, again.... why?

Just talk about it here. This is the Dallas Stars thread. Anything even tangentially related to the Stars has been posted in these annual threads for years without issue, and there's no benefit to posting a separate thread. Literally zero benefit.

But if you started different threads, people who have followed the Stars' thread all year would then have to take a special trip to the Other Sports forum to find the new threads.

I agree, let's keep it consolidated here. There's already another thread on the Liucci forum for some reason that is sparsely attended.

I knew that Mikko was a great player, I didn't know quite to this level.

Bucci did have alot of good things to say about Dallas, the team and the AAC but I agree, they were boring.

I thought a big reason for the lack of energy in the broadcast last night was that their building was borderline silent for huge chunks of that game. For all of the white out talk, I was thoroughly unimpressed for 75% of that game in terms of atmosphere.

I don't know…even when things were ratcheted up, the lady doing the color commentary had about as flat of a delivery as I have ever heard in a professional broadcast.

I watched their Game 7 against St. Louis and my son and I both were struck at how quiet the building was compared to the AAC, even when the Stars were down 2-0. Seems like they shoved all their loud/rowdy fans out in front of the arena for those crowd shots they keep showing at commercial breaks.

Yeah she sucked. I'm just saying the building didn't help at all imo.

Glad I wasn't the only one... really really strange atmosphere compared to what we are use to watching.

First of all, I absolutely cannot stand female announcers for any male sports!!! If that makes me a sexist pig then so be it... but for the love, get the women off the play-by-play / color commentary microphones for male sports!!!!

And second of all, that arena feels like it has time travelled from 1985. There is just so much more LIFE, technology and energy in modern sports arenas... the whole thing just felt bizarre.

being outside in Winnipeg is probably more fun than inside. Shots of the inside crowd looked very tame like they were watching a movie.

On the flip side, the outdoor Stars watch party looked more like a tailgate with people loosely packed sitting in camping chairs. haha

I was watching with some buddies and we were ripping on how the Canadians always have these crowds standing outside the stadium. Like go to a bar and watch it or something.

Then they showed the Dallas crowd and it was all fatties sitting in chairs.

Instant karma and got a good laugh out of it.

I saw that and had the thought that all fun people in Victory Park were inside Hero watching on the big TVs in the bar instead of sitting in a folding chair outside.

I can't imagine how packed Hero was last night. Place is awesome though.

watched this earlier this week with my kids. 20 minutes of post video conversation and questions, which ultimately ended with me stating, "I don't care, it was ruled a goal, we won the cup!"

Watched that last week (YouTube must be spying on us and putting it on our feed). I was 13 when they won the cup and never really understood why it was allowed as a goal. Always just thought they didn't want to call back a Stanley cup winning goal.

Story behind it is interesting and nice to know there was some reasoning behind why they allowed the goal.

On a side note, younger me had some connections and I got to hang out with the Stanley cup after they won. Pretty cool memory but I was a little too young to truly realize how cool that was. We drank Dr Pepper out of it and touched it , but think it was too heavy for us to lift individually. We were also probably scared little kids who didn't want to mess it up.

The only reason it's "controversial" is because the broadcasters, analysts, and fans didn't understand the rules. The league messed up the dissemination of that info. Truly a shame.

I was 15 and remember it being 2am when the game finally ended and I kept saying to myself at the time "IDGAF who wins I just want the game to end" lol

I guess I'm the resident old. I had season tickets with a couple of buddies back when we were still single. Reunion Arena was such a great barn for hockey. Our seats in the upper bowl felt like they were right over the ice.

My whole life at that time was work and watching hockey. Good times.

I was 12 and in Vegas with my parents. We went to a nice dinner and then they got me in bed back at the MGM grand before they went and gambled. They got back by midnight or so and I was still bright eyed and bushy tailed. Dad stayed up and watched the win (around 1am Vegas time).
