lol no problem!! It's an honor! Can't wait to see what he does indoors! I wanna see him run a 400 and also help out DMR! A 1200 leg would be fun to see!
Also not on the roster but with the team and enrolled is Musa Isah an international athlete from Bahrain with a 45.85 PR, so even another athlete in the 4x400 pool! I mentioned him in the summer but forgot to include him with the list of newcomers! He's not on the roster on tfrrs so perhaps there's more additions to be made
They added a few 110 hurdlers to the Bowerman watchlist, but I really feel like not enough is being said about Jaqualon Scott! He can run the 110 and the 400 hurdlers, as well as, the 4x400 relay! He can score in all of them and will do so again this year, along with the 60 hurdles! He finished the year 5th at the Olympic trials in the 110 hurdles, I expect him to have a great year!
Don't want to put too much on his plate, but that's why I'm thankful Henry went and added more depth to the 4x400 relay pool! It'll give Farquharson a chance to focus on the 800 and Scott on the 400 hurdles! Indoors asking 800 runners to double up is a lot! But getting to the national championship is the important part because the DMR there is always tactical! So getting a good time in a big meet is as important!! If I had to create a lineup for a DMR time based meet without out considering other events that day, I'd go
1200 - Sam Whitmarsh 400 - Auhmad Robinson 800 - Kimar Farquharson 1600 - Cooper Cawthra
Let's get that qualifying time at a big meet early on, so we don't have to pull resources or run a slower group at conference in hopes of getting a fast time!
Would be nice to see us run a legit DMR PRIOR to Last Chance Weekend/SEC indoor meet. That way those guys can concentrate on individual events at SEC's and not have yet another week/race on their legs the week before.
Yes exactly, you worded it perfectly! Maybe Boston will have a competitive one, or send them to Notre Dame! I hate leaving it up to that meet cause you either make them run an extra race, take them out of their primary one, or run a DMR team that's not our best lineup! Individually some of these guys like Robinson or Whitmarsh will either qualify early on in the next few weeks or it's almost a given they'll qualify at conference! So let them go run a competitive DMR!
The issue is these damn distance coaches all over the country throw all their eggs into one basket on last chance weekend. An extremely high percentage of qualifiers all qualify then so it's just lemmings trying to get in a hot race at 2-3 different locales. Totally screws with conference indoor individual and team results IMO.
Still no rosters on the teams website, and no showcasing of the athletes throughout the fall and winter, no push for the meet until a few days ago. With a huge basketball game Saturday night along with a huge high school track meet Saturday also. There were too many empty seats today!
If we had a social media team that actually advertised our athletes, or if they put out a roster so people knew who was on the team, maybe more people would show up…
