It's senior day at EV Cushing and the last regular season track meet of the year. For some it's the last track meet of the season as next up will be conference. For some it's the last time they'll ever race on their home track! Hopefully the weather complies and you can enjoy a nice day of track and field!

It should be a great day! Stars will be on the track like Camryn Dickson and Jasmin Montgomery in the 100, 200. The men's 400 should be fun as well as the 400 hurdles! Although the competition won't be crazy, it will still be a nice tuneup for our Aggies as the my inch closer and closer to conference.

Some sad news is the injury front. Blake Harris hasn't competed since dropping out of a decathlon earlier this season. If he's healthy, he'll only have the conference meet to get a top 24 mark javelin thrower Sam Hankins hasn't competed all season as well. Triple Jumper Gavin Champ outdoor season looks to be done too

To lighten things up, here is the list of seniors who will be honored at senior day: Heather Abadie, Bria Bullard, Cooper Cawthra, Nicole Chastain, Jordan Chopane, Riley Floerke, Brooke Forbes, Victoria Kadiri, Mason Mangum, Bryce McCray, Madison Murray, Antonie Nortje, Auhmad Robinson, Latasha Smith, Elise Smoot, Isaiah Teer, Kennedy Wade, Sam Whitmarsh, Jaydan Wood, Cutler Zamzow.

Some amazing young men and women on that list. As most of you know I've been covering this team for awhile and have been here since most of their recruitments. It's been an honor to watch them grow on the track and as humans! Bittersweet seeing them go, but I know for some of them they still have a lot of racing to do this next month or so!

So let's hope we some PR's today! For some it's about fine tuning their race for conference and for some it's another crazy at getting a top 48 mark in the western region! Here's to a great day of track and field!!!

Kicking things off is the 5000 right now (because who wants to run 12.5 laps in the afternoon! We have a contingent running on the women's side! Shewaye Johnson, Maddie Livingston, Penelope Gracey, Nicole Chastain, Kristen McHugh, Katherine Brunson, Kennady Fontenot, Megan Roberts, and Jamie Confer! McRaven basically said all of you girls are running this 5k lol! So it'll be nice to see a lot of maroon out there! Not sure if anyone's pacing or if we'll see Fontenot and Roberts go for a crazy fast time or treat this as a workout before conference but I'm leaning towards the latter

I stand incorrected, it's begun! And it's showing Roberts and Fontenot dropping at the 3k mark pacing Shewaye! Running through at 9:50 which is awesome

Shewaye Johnson runs a very nice 16:33 to win the 5k, 7 seconds off her pr!

Aiden Gonzalez-Rodiles with a huge 62 second last lap to win the race! 14:32!

Milena Chevallier with a 5'10 high jump!!! I knows she's been reaching for that height all season! Great for her!

With the updated TFRRS results posted from across the country - it looks like
top 8 scoring would have A&M with 44 pts and Georgia with 52pt thanks to 1 & 2 in their Javelin.
I believe that ranking 2nd for sprint schools that I checked. South Carolina & USC 3rd/4th with 30ish pts.

Tamara Chapman had several good marks today two of which I think were PBs. After her hurdle race
she was excited and embraced Iakushina with a hug (I assume they train together).

It would be nice for that 1st place NCAA mantle to pass to our current NCAA leading freshman in Iakushina!

That javelin news hurts because not only losing Davidson to Georgia, but having Fairchild out as well

With the results posted from Nunez at state we look to have a good sprint squad for next year.

Yes - TaylorSwift; our sprint girls had phenomenal races today. 22.17 (Montgomery) and 11.04(Dickson).
I saw the clock stop at 10.94 and screamed and Dickson was jumping up and down but the adjustment flashed shortly afterward.

I am wondering who will be the 4th leg next year. The last time we had 3 girls all with 11.2 speed might have been when we ran 42.36. Hoping we get a solid 4th to emerge or matriculate.

Yep - you're right; having two All-Americans disappear from scoring and one to the school who looks to top you in the podium due to those points; Hhhmm - haven't we seen this nightmare before with our Hept champion going to Texas. I am tired of this episode.

We added Aysha Shaheed out of Cal, her PB is 11.34 (11.22 all conditions best)! I'm sure we add another sprinter but I'm also curious to see if Jaiya continues to grow! Feels weird not having a dominant 400 runner, hopefully we can add that and see improvement from our distance group and healthy San Juanita Leal! Cherono, Fontenot, Bendet, Leal maybe we can find points there! Hopefully we have a busy summer!
