https://flashresults.com/2026_Meets/xc/TAMUinvite/index.htmHome sweet home. Tell your loved one, tell your neighbors, tell your dogs, tell the cashier at HEB, tell your annoying co-worker, heck go tell your ex, tell everyone!! Your favorite cross country team is back in action this weekend to host and compete in the Texas A&M Invitational. At the renowned Dale Watts Cross Country Course located here in Aggieland, we will host 16 schools and plenty of high school teams for our courses home opener. It doesn't get better than cheering our Aggies down the long home stretch of Dale Watts.
A beautiful white picket fence lines the homestretch where fans convene to see our Age run to the finish line while others can barely walk across it lol. Our course is one of the premier courses in the nation and it's a very spectator friendly course that gives you plenty of opportunities to see your Aggies in action. The course is designed to run multiple kilometer distances, but Saturday the men will run an 8k and the women a 5k.
Last time out both genders ran a 5k. This time we'll see our men go up in distance and it will remain that distance all the way up to conference. It'll. be interesting to see how our men do at the greater distance. They ran well as a team last meet. We saw freshman Gavin Chapa lead the way in his Aggie debut, followed by great runs by Jack Johnston and a huge performance by Carter Gordy. The men won the TCU Invitational over the hosts. This week the two schools will go at it again and should provide a fun competition as they fight for first overall. This week hopefully we get to see Zack Munger and at his full health he'll fight to be at the top of our lineup and provide a big boost. As will Cooper Cawthra if he's set to run. He still hasn't been added to the roster, but if can run he'll boost our teams chances also.
Unfortunately our men will not be at full strength, as we will be missing Victor Kibiego. We must wait another two weeks for his Aggie Cross Country debut after he was out all of last year. Transfer Youssef Asslouj isn't set to run as well, neither is Luca Santorum or Ondrej Gajdos. It would great to see them all run at home, but we will have to wait to see our team at full strength. Hopefully they are all healthy.
The women are set to run another 5k. Most likely next meet they will bump up to a 6k as that is their postseason distance. All but one of the omen on the roster are scheduled to compete. The lone runner not listed is Debora Cherono who still has yet to make her Aggie debut in cross country like Kibiego. However, we get to see most of our team and many big time runners for the women. A photo finish separated Megan Roberts and Kennady Fontenot last time out and both look to lead the way again for our team and for the whole meet. But don't count out freshman Sophia Bendet. Last year she won the high school portion of this meet and will look to stay undefeated on her new home course. Joyce Kemboi also ran really well in her Aggie debut last week and I'm excited to see her keep growing and growing! We'll see if SJ Leal is getting stronger and stronger the more she races as well!
It'll be very interesting to see how the rest of the lineup shakes out. This is one of the most deep lineups we've ever had and the competition to get into the scoring 5 will be tight as ever. That's the beauty of our depth. There is also question to how we race in a deeper field. I'd love to see us take the race our early and asset ourselves up front. It'll be good practice for bigger and more competitive meets. UT-Arlington has an excellent runner in Metro Jepkemboi and they added another freshman from Kenya as well in freshman Dorcas Jepkosgei who beat Matro last week. Them two along with our top girls should provide an excellent race.
It's meet two of a long season, but it's the next step of the process and a good indicator of how we're looking. Obviously we will be missing some pieces, but it's interesting to see where we stand and how the placings shake out! I encourage all of you to get out to the course and cheer on our runners! It's a great activity for all ages, whether you're a novice of the sport or completely unaware of it. I promise you'll have a blast! Our runners are amazing people on and off the course and deserve all your support! Can't wait to see how Saturday goes, go get after it distance crew and gig'em!
