For the 20 gazillionith time, I will ask the question:

WHY DON'T WE HAVE A MEN'S SOCCER PROGRAM?
With all the club soccer teams in this stae that are ranked nationally )(Dallas Solar, Houston Texans, Houston Classics, etc.) and with the quality of HS soccer in this state, why don't we field a men's soccer program?

Seriously, with all the soccer talent in this state, the program would be competitive. Very, very few top level high school/club soccer players stay in state for college ball. I think a men's soccer program would do well...

We could be like SMU and drop baseball for soccer.

Besides Title IX...There are very few Div 1 teams anywhere close to play. The 3 nearest College Station are SMU, Tulsa and St Louis. No Big XII school fields a team...only Kentucky in the SEC...and the Big 10 has only 2..Indiana and Michigan.

I met Dr. Vandiver once at an A&M event (probably around 1984-1986), I was playing high school soccer at the time. He told me that getting rid of men's soccer at A&M was one of his biggest mistakes.

I have never looked it up to see if we had one or what exactly he meant. Someone later told me that it was Sherrill who wanted it out. I don't have any facts to back these statements up. Does anyone else know anything?

The evening practice looks doable, but when I was in school I never had 8:00 after outside of work and school. That was the main reason I didn't try out. Yall might want to rethink that first practice time, but the evening one should fit into most schedules.

Just my 2 cents.

monarch - we pay dues at the beginning of each year (~$125) and we get money from recsports. Also, we do fundraisers each year and receive donations.

AJC - those times were just for 2-a-days the past 2 weeks. Regular practice is from 6-8pm three nights a week.

I don't think anybody has mentioned Title IX yet, but that's part of the problem I bet.

Parking is going to suck because of the RVs, so if you come plan on parking by Olsen like you would for a girl's game.
