This weekend is the last regular season week before conference meets begin! On Saturday, our Distance Medley Relay teams (DMR) will be headed to Notre Dame where most national qualifiers punch their ticket, so I'm glad we're competing here!
We will have both a men's and women's team. Our men's team advanced to nationals last year in this event placing 4th in a huge surprise to most experts (not me wink wink). It could be big for us this year as well.
A DMR consists of 4 different lengths. It begins with a 1200 meter, then a 400 meter, then 800, then closes with a mile.
As of now we will have Peter Narumbe open up in the 1200, Lawson Jacobs in the 400, Reece Sharman-Newell in the 800, and Ondrej Gajdos in the mile!
On the women's side we'll have Elise Smoot in the 1200, Tyler Lowe in the 400, Sophia Bendet in the 800, and Debora Cherono in the mile.
The competition won't be as intense as last year which worries me, but let's hope the pacers get that 1200 hot! The 800 leg has some insane competition though. We will need a time around 9:21 or better.
Tomorrow, Lily Carlson will be competing in the pole vault in Arkansas. Machaeda Linton and Morgan Davis will be doing the long jump in Arkansas as well. Henry Zimmerman will be going up against some big dawgs in the weight in Iowa.
