Val just beat world #5 Alex de Minaur to advance to the semifinals against Carlos Alcaraz at the ATP 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo.

Val has now advanced to number 17 in the world.

To my knowledge no Aggie has ever broken into the top 20.

Congrats Val and good luck against Carlito !

His cousin and fellow Aggie, Arthur Rinderknech, is at number 26.

Arthur got a bad draw getting Joao Fonsecain the second round.

Val loses to Alcaraz 6-4, 6-4 in a good competitive match.

Announcer gave shout out to Texas A&M.

Post match commentators gave lots of props to Val.

From 250 something in the world to number 17 in one year is unheard of for a player his age.
