If this turns into a worst case scenario, I think you could conceivably say the US will screw themselves out of the World Cup in Germany. Their draw isn't friendly by any stretch of the imagination and sending a bunch of college players to Trinidad turns what should be a sure away win (something that should be relished in qualification) into a very dicey situation not to mention the fact that I don't see too many teams play well when they aren't allowed a few friendlies and a training camp. For everything that soccer has achieved here in the last few years since Korea, this could potential knock it back to square one...and I don't think that's being overly dramatic.

You're right Dre. This kind of stuff really hurt baseball, an established sport and hockey's in danger as well. This isn't good for soccer in the US as it's not even nearly as established as the hockey was.

I heard about this a while ago, but I just don't see it happening. I think our game is at too much of a grassroots level right now that the federation could not afford to alienate fans like the other leagues did.

I knew that there was some tension regarding the lack of a labor agreement but it wasn't until recently that the rhetoric on both sides turned ugly with talks of strikes and replacement players. I'm inclined to think it's just posturing by both sides but any talk of that nature worries me as things start getting serious from here on out.
