With that said this isnt really your fathers tennis conference. It actually resembles the compitition of the early to late 70s. During that time Trinity of San Antonio won two national championships and put out like 10 pro players. They were independent and ruled much as the Pro group from waco. Just behind them was Rice and SMU. The next group of really competitive teams were Texas, Arkansas, TCU. The southwest conference champion seemed to always have to battle every week to survive much less dominate. It was tough...
Big 12 will continue to be a top conference just a step below the SEC....but not by much. As for Texas , no tears necessary. Just the occupational hazard of playing inexperienced players top to bottom. They know where the winners circle is...been there before and will be again. Truth is outside of the top 5-8 teams in the rankings there is not a lot of difference from 9-40...
