RCII - Henry is the better coach and success will come. Fran, Billy, Pat, Gary, Coach G and Tim will bring more winning to A&M than we are ready for.

Looks like Coach Henry is adding some really good talent. We should have some good quarter-milers with the guy he added this spring and the guys he got in the fall. I think the guy from Georgia we got in the fall is ranked number one in the nation in the 400m.

It's a pleasant change seeing us get top athletes from California,Jamaica, Canada and the Southeast in addtion to top Texas athletes as opposed to somebody who placed second at a 2A district meet. Coach Henry is bringing in the talent to compete AND WIN at the national level.

I agree getting national talent is good, but if we can get the top track athletes from 4A and 5A in Texas I don't think we would even need to recruit nationally. Kerron Clement from La Porte is an example, he recently broke Michael Johnson's indoor 400m record but he went to Florida. There are a ton of great track athletes in Texas, but for some of them track is a secondary sport to football or basketball. I'm sure this is a huge barrier in recruiting some kids.

Going to Florida is much simpler due to academic standards. The SEC and the Atlantic conferences have a much lower academic standard and they also find a way to keep them eligible. We have not learned how to compete against those standards.

Some one needs to report on this thread how many mens Big XII championships (any sport) have been won by the Aggies since our track and field Big XII championship in 2001.

Come on... who was the last Aggie men's team to win a Big XII championship since the 2001 mens track and field team?

Tennis won the Big 12 in 2001 also, but that is all I see. I guess we have had kind of a drought since 2001. Glad we have Byrne here now.

Yes, Trinity Otto did sign with us. In the press release from aggieathletics.com it says he was recruited for the decathlon.

Texas A&M... I've had the "faith" since graduating in 1966. I suggest that you're missing my point.

Have a great day!

How many of our athletic teams have improved since Bill Byrne arrived?

Where a coaching change was made, how many have improved?

My hometown newspaper carries very little about track and field but I heard a rumour that our men's team finished 11th at the Big XII Indoor Meet. Is that correct???? We should be able to finish at least 10th at the upcoming Outdoor Meet however ( with all the help $Bill has provided ). I don't recall Coach Ted ever finishing that far down. And BTW, the utterly disgusting, disgraceful and classless manner in which Ted Nelson was replaced will remain a sore spot with me. Still, I wish our team the utmost success.
