Someone will have to help me with that link if anyone else is interested.

The team is currently in sole possession of first place with a one stroke lead over Missouri, a four stroke lead over Michigan State and a five stroke lead over tu.

I was stunned to see that we were in first place this morning. I checked the scores yesterday afternoon and we were in the clubhouse tied for eleventh place, having shot 25 strokes over par on the day. The teams that were in the top ten were obviously still on the course and struggled as badly as we did getting to the clubhouse. The wind must have really been blowing in Lubbock yesterday.

Congratulations to the team on an outstanding showing so far and good luck for the rest of the tournament!

Still in first place--2 stroke lead over Michigan State and Auburn!

Auburn has moved into first place. We are in second, trailing Auburn by 2 strokes. We have a six stroke lead over the third place team.

The most important part of the regional is to finish in the top ten so that the team can advance to the ncaa championships. We look to be a lock to advance.

The top eight teams and the top two individuals not affiliated with those squads will advance to the NCAA Championships, which are being held at Meadows Golf Course in Sunriver, Ore., May 17-20.

We are in the clubhouse tied for second with Missouri at +39. Missouri is still on the course. Auburn is in the clubhouse in 1st place at +32. Most of the teams in the top 8 are in the clubhouse. Since no one has shot (or is currently shooting) under par today, I wouldn't expect five or more teams to be able to catch us. So, it looks like a lock that we will finish in the top 8 and advance to the ncaa championships.

My apologies for the top 10 mistake earlier today.

Congratulations to the team on an excellent tournament and good luck in the championships.

Question for those who know the sport better than I:

Why is it that the leaders go off first on the last round of the tournament? The teams at the bottom of the board are still out there playing while the top finishers are cooling there heels in the clubhouse (or maybe on their way home). That's got to be a real whippin' to be still out there playing long after everyone knows that you don't have a chance to win or even show.

OMG. Horns miss out by 1 stroke.
You think this chick is taking it hard?

A 10 on 18 would have gotten a tie. But an 11 just won't cut it!

Right. They count each teams top 4 finishers toward the team score, which she was...if she had a 10 at 18 the Horns would have moved into an 8th place tie. But here is the way I look at her score...if I could take an 11 on the 18th hole and still break 80...I'd be a happy golfer!!

An 11 on the final hole? Yikes. By the way, the weather was pretty decent here in Lubbock for spring time.

DMN is reporting this morning that the top ten teams qualify for the championships and that tu advanced. The article on AggieAthletics and others on this thread said that only the top 8 finishers advance. Which is correct?

OK, I went to the NCAA Sports Web site, and they have stories from three different regionals, and each story has a different number advancing. The story from the Central Regional says the Top 10 there are advancing. The one from the West Regional says the Top 9 there are advancing, while the story from the East says the Top 8 there are advancing. I'm not sure which is right. The A&M release says the Top 8 from the Central are advancing, too.

The UT release says the Longhorns just missed out moving on, but that some individuals qualified to go.

The DMN's headline on its small ncaa golf article is

"UT, A&M, OSU advance to NCAAs"

which appears to be inaccurate. If tu had finished 2nd at the Central Regional, I expect the headline would have been something like

"UT Takes Second at Regional"

Not that I buy into the BOMC, of course.

The DMN was wrong today as was the NCAA web site. (Shocking isn't it!)
Only 8 teams per region advance in women's golf. I think the number is 10 with the guys and that is where the confusion came in.

As for Perry's 11 on 18 . . . it started with her tee shot hitting an officials cart and bouncing into another fairway. She should have hit back into the correct fairway but instead tried to go the short way over water. After 2 shots into the water she made it to the green only to putt off the green into a bunker. Finally got on and 2 putted for an 11. Supposedly her coach was with her the entire time. It was the talk of the day!(Actually, the Aggies were the biggest story of the day!!!)

The wind was a very big issue all three days!
