It seems like every week there is a new person saying they arent going to be playing the exhibtion match against the U.S.

No Rooney, Lampard, Terry, Beckham, Ferdinand and Owen

Im sure someone has mentioned this before but its still pisses me off...

Yeah, that does suck. Joey Cole will be there, though. Lamps and Terry are both having surgery, so they have a decent excuse for not playing.

GK: Scott Carson (Liverpool), Robert Green (Norwich), David James (Manchester City)

D: Sol Campbell (Arsenal), Ashley Cole (Arsenal), Wes Brown (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Chelsea), Gary Neville (Manchester United), Phil Neville (Manchester United), Matthew Upson (Birmingham)

MF: David Beckham (Real Madrid), Michael Carrick (Tottenham), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Stuart Downing (Middlesbrough), Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle), Shawn Wright-Phillips (Manchester City)

F: Peter Crouch (Southampton), Andy Johnson (Crystal Palace), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Michael Owen (Real Madrid), Alan Smith (Manchester United)

Hargreaves, Beckham and Owen are joining up after the US game (but that doesn't do me any good). There's a few big namers in there that I want to see (the Neville Bros., Campbell, Defoe, Cole.

I knew this would happen but I still would have like to have seen Becks, Lamps, Stevie G etc. play in person. Oh well...

I hope that we straight work them. That will teach them to bring a second squad against us.

It's just a friendly. I don't really think they care. But I'd still like to kick their asses.

I have a feeling they do care. They still think that there is absolutely 0 chance that we win.

Owen and Beckham will still be with Real Madrid. La Liga won't be over when England arrive.

If they lose, they'll care a little bit. The thing most English care about is the timing. They see it as a marketing tour for the FA with no actual soccer benefit. I believe I've heard the word 'farcical' bandied about more than once.

Many of the English hooligans are in a rage over the purchase of their beloved Manchester United by American Malcolm Glazer, owner of the Tampa Bay Bucs. They've threatedned all sorts of boycotts. I was speaking to one ofmy British colleagues yesterday when he assailed me about the "bloody American" buying MU. I told him not to sweat it as the team would no doubt get a new air-conditioned playpen ( courtesy of the taxpayers ) Seating Licenses and tickets prices raised to a level they should have been all along. That got him going but not as much as when I told how much they are going to enjoy Coors Light, hot dogs , rubbery nachos and pop corn. Also suggested they have a Texas Ranger at each match to quell the riots. They take it way too seriously.

It's not going to be farcical when we unleash JOB on their asses. We're going to beat those wankers into submission and then they'll cry about how they didn't have their first team.

You guys are right--the English will certainly care if they lose. But with both teams in the midst of WC qualifying, it would be a mistake for the managers or players to take this one too seriously. It's just not a priority because of the timing.

The U.S. roster looks pretty solid:

I'm loving th JOB addition. If that guy stays healthy for the next year, he'll be in Germany if we make it and our midfield will be nothing to scoff at. Reyna, Beaseley, Landon, O'Brien. That's probably the best midfield that the US has ever had.

Who here honestly thought that was a "second team" so to speak...those are all starters in the premier league...and we didnt exactly play our top 11...the last 40 minutes or so we definitely had the better of the play though.

That was a second team England squad. Just because you start in the Premier league, does not mean you are good enough to be in the first team England squad.
Very simple to work out mate.

Team sport, just because you are the best and most well paid does not mean you will improve your team that much.

The game was more like our second string vs their 3rd string. Not really telling for either side but good that we competed and at times dominated. It does say something about American soccer.
