we hit the post once as well, we both had a pretty equal amount of good chances on goal, we may have actually had more...who cares how fancy they pass through the midfield, they couldnt execute in the attacking third.

From what I've been able to read it sounds like it was a pretty even match with both teams having their fair share of chances. As it goes with soccer we put away one and they weren't able to. All the what-ifs don't matter after the whistle has blown.

On a personal note, I was trying to make it up to the game, but the wife nixed that idea. Oh well, if they advance to the finals I'm definitely going.

I watched the game (all of these games are televised live on FSC) and it was definitely not a lucky win. Did Argentina have their chances? Definitely but the US had their fair share even beyond the missed PK and the goal they scored (Barret's drive that went literally 6 inches wide comes to mind). No one in the soccer community considers it a lucky win, even Argentina's coach credited the Americans for outplaying them. I will say that I was shocked to see Messi not start and only play in the second half. That kid is amazing and Argentina looked a lot more dangerous as soon as he as inserted.

We dominated the 1st half, and the 2nd half was even, maybe a slight edge to the Germans becuase of the end of the game. Fun game to watch, and we definitely looked more impressive IMO.
